Any plan adding a ""unsupported" Closed Caption on the HD-100 in future update?

Is there any plan on adding "unsupport" closed caption on the HD-100 decoder in future update? I don't think it shouldn't be that hard since SageTV already have such feature and I been using it for over a year now and loving it.

But soon I am wanting to put in a deciated server in some closet with my DirectTV recivers then put a HD-100 in a couple of rooms that have TV however being deaf I really need the closed caption to be working on them instead of "wait for recording to end and use plugin" type of caption etc.

Thanks for making a great PVR with unsupported Closed Caption possible! But I'll be thanking you even more if you add it in HD-100 too!
Bill

I am uing a HD PVR from a Dih VIP211. The receiver has the captions turned on and the HD PVR records them.

It's a workarround.

Would future updates to the HD100 not make close captioning possible or is it not possible with the existing hardware?

It would be *really* nice if it supported SRT subs within mkv. I'm tired of hard-coding subtitles!

Decoding Closed Caption from mpeg files are done via decoders. So if HD-100 have software decoder in the firmware then yes it can be possible just by updating the decoder in HD-100 to be able to decode Closed Caption.

SageTV never had supported Closed Caption in their default decoder that why you had to use PowerDVD or Nvidia decoder to be able to view Closed Caption but hopefully one day SageTV would consider officially supporting it.

Yes for HDTV recivers but right now we are using analog recievers and PVR500 tuners so Closed Caption is written to the mpeg but needed a decoder that could read the CC on mpeg and play it back on screen along with the video and sound.

We are staying with analog for now because both DirectTV and Dish Network have a very bad support with their HDTV captioning. It either delayed or not as good as the analog caption or chopped up and broken etc. I think it because instead of trying to make a true HDTV captioning for their shows, they try to "borrow" the analog captioning and covert it to HDTV CC so the timing would be way off or the caption is all chopped up and broken.

One day hopefully before the analong signal dies that either network will fix or improve their HDTV Closed Captioning.
