Dynamic Menus DTD is no longer valid
I just installed SageTV 6.4.8 on Linux, as that version required for HD-PVR support. I downloaded the latest SageMC 16x9 and installed it, and the main menu isn't happy. I get an error indicating that the sagemc_menu.xml has an error at line 3 column 3, which, looking at the XML, makes no sense to me. Poking around a little, I did note that the URL for the DTD specified is no longer valid; it looks like a commercial squatter has taken over sage-community.org.
My JRE is the latest 1.6 from sun. I can't attempt to validate the XML without the DTD.... any suggestions on what might be going wrong? --Ikarius ***Moved from Request for SageMC Bug Reports thread*** -MeInMaui

I host my DTD file in webroot of the sagetv server using nielm's plugin. Point the xml to localhost. Just be careful to edit the file after you make any menu saves.

Yes, but my point is I don't have the DTD, and the source link is dead. I'd be happy to host my DTD on the sagetv server, but I don't know where to get a copy of it.

Hey Guys,
I moved these posts into their own thread so as to not derail the bug report thread. Aloha, Mike

It is still a bug though (the dead link in the XML file). Just trying to help get it resolved.

BTW, does nielm's latest Dynamic Menus plugin have this updated? Also, I've been using dynamic menus forever and never worried about the DTD link. Aloha, Mike

Latest default menu has:A few months back SourceForge was having some server issues which would affect the loading of a menu so I copied it to the local server. This issue seems to only affect Linux, for some reason Windows is able to find the file in the program root. Must be hard linked in the jar file?

Does everything work using the new SourceForge URL cited above?

still happening....
Well, I had the same error today.... (just reinstalled SageTV & SageMC) and recived the XML error. I searched the forum and got to here....
Anyways..... the new problem looks like that I'm running SageMenu v1.4 and the DTD link is to v1.3. I tried changing the number in the link and Sage didn't like it too much. Any new suggestions? I really hate the standard layout.... I need my dynamic one.... bad. btw... thanks for all the great work.... I'm a big fan! -Chris |

Could someone try installing the Dynamic Menu plugin in the default STV on Linux and let me know if you have problems with that as well? Thanks.
Aloha, Mike

Are you still hosting your DTD file locally?
I'd like to know if the issue could be resolved by just asking nielm to host the v1.4 DTD file on Sourceforge and then properly pointing to that in the menu definition file. It looks like he is still hosting the v1.3 DTD file. This of course isn't an issue on windows. But if it is the problem, then his plugin for the default STV shouldn't work on Linux either (as long as your are still relying on the Sourceforge hosted DTD file). Aloha, Mike

Mike,
I do host locally, but I took a look at your menu file and it was pointing to sage-community. I modified it to point to sourceforge. It's attached here. Your file was pointed to version 1.3 B

Ok, I got it now. Thanks.
I wrongly assumed that Chaos~Theory had tried the Sourceforge link and it still didn't work. But going back and rereading his post, he never says that he actually changed the link to Sourceforge. Aloha, Mike

I am actually running Windows, not Linux. I had *never* had that problem before. I just happened to have rebuilt my computer and decided to download all the addon's, including the dynamic menu's. It was just my luck that it happened.... the whole instal was running so smoothly up to that point.... something was bound to happen! What I ended up doing is going back to the old version I had in my file cache, which was v1.3.... and everything worked again! (which was not surprise) |
