From Hauppauge regarding new HD-PVR drivers

Not a definitive date but at least they're still saying pretty soon.

I guess they were pre-occupied with the failure rate for a while. I would think the software driver guys (or gals) would be separate from the hardware folks but who knows in a small company.

Bottom-line at least there's been no official word spread around Hauppauge that the 5.1 drivers are majorly screwed and may never see the light of day, which was/is my worry.

the driver is due to be released very shortly, we had delays due to the
first revision of the HD-PVR having such a high failure rate which needed to
be addressed before completing the 5.1 driver.

Al Castro

Some people seem to think DD 5.1 support is no big deal. I'm not one of them, this is a hude show killer for me.

Waiting on 5.1 drivers before I buy another unit.

yeah good lord, I was hoping they'd have released new drivers sooner than this. I guess it's our own fault for buying a product that was not yet fully implemented.

I just hope that the beta driver version problems of the 5.1 chip running hot don't require a C3 redesigned version of the HD-PVR.

Rumor:Hauppauge HD-PVR beta drivers version 1.0.3.53 beta with AC-3 5.1 & more is being released today finally. I'll believe it when I see it, but that's what I'm hearing.

Well what do you know. They are here. My inside source fell through this time and I didn't get an early copy, but you can get a copy of the driver at SHSPVR

It supposedly has 5.1 support along with a few other little tidbits that I haven't confirmed yet. I haven't tested this driver so keep a copy of your old one just in case
