New to Sage: Help needed
Hey guys. This is my first post so go gently on me. ;-)
I'm new to SageTV, coming over from Vista MC since I bought a Hauppauge HD PVR. I like Sage so far, minus a few minor glitches like occassional freezing up, etc. I'm interested in trying out some of the mods and programs I see listed in this forum, but seem to be having trouble getting SageMC installed properly so I can start applying the software in here. Could anyone post a simple guide to installing SageMC? I tried following the instructions in the sticky threads in this forum for the latest SageMC build but for some reason don't seem to be getting anyway. It's possible I'm not extracting the zip file correctly into the SageTV folder, who knows. A step by step, idiots guide to SageMC would be GREATLY appreciated. Here are the specs of my computer, if that helps. AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.3 GHz 3 gigs RAM Vista Home Premium 32 bit Service Pack 1 NVidia GeForce 8800 GT Video Card Hauppauge HD PVR (Also a Hauppauge HVR 1600 I won't be able to use with Sage until I get a USB-UIRT) SageTV is installed in C:Program Files: Sage TV. I'd appreciate any help I could get with this. Thanks in advance, and I'm glad to start being a part of the Sage community. Also, if you know of any awesome apps to use with the SageMC, feel free to give me advice. There are TONS of mods I've already looked through, and plan on using the Netflix mod, the commercial skip feature, and some others. ![]() |

Welcome!
I think the best place to start is Brent's excellent guide here. Since you are running Vista, I would recommend that you either turn off UAC or be ready to do some reading up on how to work around it. Good Luck! Aloha, Mike

Since you are switching from VMC, you might find this guide helpful as well

Thanks
Thanks guys. I've got it up and running and have successfully installed the Netflix plugin and activated the Comskip feature.
![]() A couple of questions still though. 1st, when I did this, I lost all of my scheduled recordings. I've gone through and added in a few of them, but is there a way to recover them easily? I did create a back up of my original installation if that helps. Also, the shows I recorded in regular SageTV aren't showing up as recorded shows in SageMC. Is there a way to get SageMC to recognize them as recorded shows with the program info, etc. instead of just finding them as imported videos? Finally, is there a way to "clean up" the imported videos? They are all stored in the same two folders, and most are in subfolders within those folders, for some reason SageTV is simply listing a massive screen with each individual file, not even recognizing the subfolders. For example, in J:Videos:Farscape I have 22 episodes of farscape in Divx format. The My Videos of Sage MC is showing each episode individually instead of grouping them together, and I can't seem to find a way to clean it up. Thanks guys. You've been great and Im LOVING this software and already recommended it to a friend who has a Hava that wont work with Vista MC. |

I figured out how to get the files in My Videoes to remain grouped by their subfolders, so you can drop that question.

Your recordings/favorites etc are stored in wiz.bin in the Sage folder. Make sure Sage and service are unloaded. Copy old wiz.bin back. Might mess up the work you've done since on the folder grouping. I'm not sure about that. Just rename your current wiz.bin in case before copying the old one into Sage.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. It just erased the new recordings I'd added (as you thought it might.) Any other ideas?
