btw I've also got the black background issue. Which seems to be replaced by the live tv preview. ( in other words I when playing a video file and going back to the main menu, the whole background becomes te preview window)

Did you restart SageTV (including the service if you are using it) on your server after installing SageMC?

For anyone having this problem, I still haven't gotten any sage.properties + debug log files related to this issue.

Aloha,
Mike

The funny thing is that I was not getting this error before I installed the Slimplayer 1.2 import. I know you don't 'support' that STVi, but is there anything in that package that could affect a SageMC installation. Here is what I have tried to remedy the problem:
- Reinstall SageMC Upgrade 6.3.8
- Reload STV from Settings menu
- Removed the slimplayer.stvi and some related files (I did not remove any of the .jar files, as I am not sure if they are shared by other components of Sage. Could one of these .jar files be causing an issue?)
- Restart SageTV service
- Uninstall/Reinstall SageTV 6.4.8
- Reload STV from Settings menu
None of these things worked. Also, I tried loading an old sagemc .xml file to replicate the 'wrong version of sagemc.jar' error and I was able to replicate it.
Hope this helps. Sincerely, thanks for all of the hard work. This has made SageTV so enjoyable for our entire family and I know it takes months of work to make this stuff happen.
Debug file please.

I can post a debug file if I knew how to generate one?

But this problem definetly has to do with dynamic menus not being enabled. I would just enable them but I can't get them to work either. bad menu.xml file. but when I revert back to the SageMC default menu the background reappears and wroks until I re start the GUI, then black again.

EDIT: OK I remembered the debug_logging = TRUE
Here are the both the log files and prop. files.

Sage running as a service and for this test the GUI running on the server.
ASUS P4B - P4 2.8 w/1g

EDIT: Ok .rar's won't upoad, rename to .rar

Yes I restarted SageTV + the Service, I've even restarted the computer just to be sure.

Some pictures of it, Sage doesn't want to make a debug log right now, i'll try it again later. (added debug file; strange errors related to sf plugin)

Umm. That's a typo and you meant to say sagemc_menu.xml, right?

===================================
Instructions for generating a debug log file:
===================================

If you want to help diagnose problems:

- shutdown Sage
- add (or edit) the property debug_logging=TRUE (uppercase!) in the Sage property file (SageClient.properties if you are using client or SageTV service, else Sage.properties)
- add (or edit) the property plugins/df/debug_level=1 in Sage property file
- restart Sage
- follow any steps to reproduce the problem
- attach sagetvclient_0.txt (client/service) or sagetv_0.txt (standalone) to your post

The file(s) are in your SageTV folder.

Aloha,
Mike

Nope, I renamed it to menu.xml as that is what the dynamic menu was looking for. I tried that as well and it still bombed when loading.

EDIT: even when I use the default SageTv3.xml file and try and import the "dynamic_menu_import.stvi" file I get errors in the menu file "Top menu file errors", although this may be off topic If dynamic menus were able to run so would the new version of sageMC

Do you happen to have a ...\SageTV\Net directory?

I see you are loading SageMC_169-48.xml.

Could you load the original SageMC_169.xml file and verify that the problem still occurs with no plugins installed? Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

I think that is left over from an old dynamic menus installation. Try moving it completely out of the SageTV directory (or just delete it if you feel brave) and restart SageTV.

Mike

Just tested it w/o any plugins, it still has the same problems.

Deleted the net\sf folder in SageTV, and the Dynamic Menu's came back to live, when enabled the background shows okay now.

Also disabling the Sage Core Animations doesn't corrupt the screens anymore with Dynamic menu's enabled.

So Dynamic menu's is the key.

I love that you can now make a multi-disc folder display just the cover art without the folder! Looks excellent.

Yep - deleted the net folder and everything works now - even my IMDB! I just need to figure out how to change the main menu now, it default to somthjing funky with no background. The sub menus work as in SageMC except the settings menu is gone so I can not reload SageMC.

But thanks for your help so far and all of the hard work put into this

Thanks,
Skybolt

Check if the slimplayer package installed an old df_sageutils.jar

Ok - I am still not working and I am very confused. If I run the SageMC .8 version with out dynamic menus I have no background image as stated prior. I f I use the dynamic menu I still get no background and this funcky menu. I have ctrl-O myself to death and can not seem to fix this. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Skybolt

I defined a custom background in SageMC settings. It works in all screens except a sub-menu (same settings I had in 6.3.7a which worked fine). Have I overlooked a new setting for that? Also, is it possible to define a graphic for the background of the htext menu (as well as font options for selected/un-selected items, and garphics for selected/un-selected item?
Mike, I kow you are busy, so I figured this might have been looked over, but what's the reason "my menu" doesn't use the selected background? I'll look thru the code myself later tonight if you don't have a chance.
