Question Does SageTV when using 'Zap To It' for an EPG update your system clock?

Hello - I have been a SageTV customer for many years, but just recently my cable provider updated the firmware in their cable box making it so I cannot change the channel right when the clock ticks over at the hour or half hour (ex: 9:59:59 -> 10:00:00 or 9:29:59->9:30:00)

I have turned off my Windows Time Service (W32Time), and have manually advanced my system clock ahead 30 seconds as a work around for my cable providers bug. But I find that everyday right around the time the EPG updates, my clock is reset to what the proper time should be (30 seconds behind what I set it at)

Does Sage do this intentionally? If so, how can I override this feature? It's really becoming irritating to me because all my shows are not being recorded thanks to my cable providers poorly tested software!!

There is an option for this: Setup -> Detailed Setup -> General -> Sync System Clock with SageTV server.

I have this problem, only SageTV seems to be ignoring this setting. It is set to disabled, however it is still is doing a clock sync when it updates the guide.

I have made sure nothing else is automatically changing the time, and I have even tested this by both manually updating the guide and watching the clock get updated and letting a guide update happen on its own while watching the clock.

Both times, the clock is updated.

Try disabling the W32Time Service if you are using XP.

OK, so how do you tell Sage to start 30 seconds early? I thought there was a setting, but I can't find it anywhere.

I see. I'd expected it to be in Settings.

Although I've realized that in setting padding, it will interfere with the prior recording causing conflicts. So that's not an option.

Hate to disconnect the clock and set it forward, as it will slowly get worse and worse.

There are various programs out there that will let you sync your computer's clock to an NTP server and automatically offset it by a certain amount each time. I think AnalogX's Atomic TimeSync program lets you do that (and it's free too).

i solved my problem. Looking in the sage.properties file, it lists sync_system_clock=true even though in the gui under detailed settings, it shows it as disabled.

The cause of this seems to be running in server mode. sageclient.properties shows it as false. However, this is all on one computer. Should this be considered a bug?

That appears to be what happens on my system when I try changing the setting while using service mode. It will get looked into to see if it needs a change for the next beta.
