CC & Qam are there plug ins?

I have had sagetv for about 5 or 6 months now. I know that you can get plug ins for it. I have a Qam enable card, AVerMedia AVerTVHD HDTV/TV-Tuner Combo PCI Express (x1) Card - White Box, but when I use the digital side of the card I get the NO SIGNAL deal. I have cable one service and I have all but bang my head on the desk. The oem software I have with the card works for the hd side of the card but its a pain to use the software and it sucks. Sage is a much simpler program to use. Also Is there a plug in or some setting in sage that I can turn on the closed captioning? I have also search aimlessly for a solution. If anyone can help I'd very much appreciate it.

AFAIK, all digital captures have CC embedded. The problem is that you have to have a decoder that will display the CC. I've tried the WinDVD and PowerDVD decoders and gotten some CC, but nothing acceptable. With one decoder, I'll get garbled digital CC due to ~50% of the characters missing and with the other, I get complete digital CC but only for some channels.

My plan is to wait till the new Mpeg demux is stable, and hopefully with the better timeline support, be able to be in sync with extracted .smi CC that I can use the CC plugin to display.

On the analog side of your card, there is no support for analog CC unless the card maker's drivers support CCinDVD captions. If they don't, and I've only heard of Hauppuage supporting that in the analog boards, then you can't get analog CC.

Well the card I have is a avermeadia m780 wich has its own decoders built in. not to mention heavin forbid if I start using windows meadia center, closed captions work with meadia center. I just want to know if there any plugins and how to install it on sage. Maybe when sage updates to the next version they would include closed captioning in the option minue.

You mean it has its own ENcoders builit in, not DEcoders. Encoders create the video file, Decoders play back the video file.

The reason that captions work in WMC is that Microsoft uses a different driver subset to do CC than Sage does. There is no "plug-in" that you can add to Sage that will make CC work on the analog side of that card, it is all related to the card's drivers.

And, if you get the QAM side working, depending on the DEcoder that you use, you may get the digital CC to display.

As for QAM, what drivers are you using and what OS? I don't have that card, but I did a quick search and did see that people have gotten QAM to work with the right drivers and maybe a couple updated Sage files.

Well I got most of the channles to work on digital, apparently we con't have many hd or digital channles around here but that is ok I might not of had a very good connection or that the software didn't reconize the signal or one of my settings was wong. I think it was the setting. Thank you for helping me and yes I ment encoders must of got it all mixed up in my head lol, I have the latest drivers 2.5.64.29 or at least I think they are. I'm running 64 bit vista ultimate. I have a 9500 series phenom x64 and 4 gigs of mem, thinking about bumping it up to 8 or 10. All powering a Gigyabite GA-MA790FX-DS5 S-series. Now the CC I will worry about it later. I'm not hurting too bad without them anyways, it would be nice to have tho.
