padding recordings & subtitles

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to schedule recordings in SageTV and have it "pad" the recording with a minute or so in the beginning and end ?

See, sometimes shows start exactly on time and my recording comes out fine, other times the show starts a minute or two ahead of/behind schedule and my resulting recording gets clipped in the front or back. How can I avoid this?

Another thing I was hoping to get quick info on is there is any improvements to subtitle support in SageTV ? I use VobSub currently and it's a bit inconvenient because apparently it only supports one subtitle format. I was hoping there was something developed or being developed integrated with SageTV and supports more formats. Any intel on this?

thanks for any help

It's in the advanced recording options for the manual recording or favorite. I think there's a start time and end time option.

but is that something I have to set for each recording or does that affect all recordings?

also, how would it affect 2 recordings back-to-back... will the padding for one come to the expense of the other recording?

thanks for your help !

It's per recording. There's an option in Detailed setup for default favorite and manual recording settings but I don't know if it will affect already added favorites.

By default, if the recordings are truely back to back (on the same channel) the offending padding will be removed and both will be recorded. Optionally you can disable that, and Sage will either use two tuners or raise a conflict.

If they're not on the same channel, then Sage will raise a conflict.

You can set padding for individual Manual Recordings or use the Favorite Details screen to set padding for a Fav. Padding can be automatically removed for back to back Favs on the same channel using an option in Detailed Setup -> Customize. Padding is never auto-removed on MRs.

The hidden features have a way to set up default padding for new MRs and Favs.

Sage supports DVD subtitles natively.
