Comskip not running

I have it enabled in the SageMC menu, but none of my recordings get processed. Am I missing something? Thanks for any advice.

Did you download comskip from the comskip site and extract it to the sagetv directory?

In addition, you will need something outside of Sage to watch for files and run comskip on them. The settings in MC are more a matter of how to use the commercial files that already exist.

I am not running anything else, and SageMC is scanning my recordings. I could be wrong, but I haven't set anything up outside of SageMC.

Whoops, I made the mistake of thinking it was included with the SageMC download. I just downloaded the comskip zip file and extrwcted it to C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV. I'll test it tonight. Thanks everyone.

Just a quick note for you guys:

The option to kick off comskip from SageMC after recording is really just a legacy feature. The preferred method is to use Dirmon2 or comskip monitor with Comskip or Show Analyzer(SA).

This has a couple of significant advantages. First, you can run multiple instances of comskip/showanalyzer simultaneously. Second, you can analyze a show while it is recording and the commercials will appear in the time bar as they are detected. If you timeshift playback by 10 minutes or so, you can enjoy commercial skipping goodness when watching (almost) live TV.

A drawback of the built-in option is that you need to keep SageMC UI running to get it to kick off commercial detection. With one of the other methods, you can run SageTV as a service and exit the UI (or put your extender to sleep) without affecting commercial detection.

Aloha,
Mike

I have Comskip enabled in the SageMC menus...but I also run comskip monitor, will this cause a conflict? I had a comskip error yesterday, but haven't troubleshooted it yet.

If you're using comskip monitor then turn off the option in SageMC to run comskip. It could cause issues, I would think if they both happen to try and run it on the same file at or nearly the same time. And performance issues would start to show up too.

If you are running Comskip Monitor or Dirmon2, you should disable background commercial detection in SageMC.

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: Bah. Beaten to the punch again....
