comskip live

i'm running comskip for the very first time and i love it... it has set up skips on all my recorded files... however when watching a show that was not set up to be recording, about 1/2 hour into a 1 hour show i don't get the skips...

i thought it was suppose to work that way... so i checked to see that comskip monitor was creating a file, indeed it created a txt file and log file no edl...

any ideas...

i'm using the latest version of sage, comskip and comskip monitor... on xp sp2 with mvp media extender

Go in the the comskip.ini file and enable outputting eld files. That should get you going.

Could you clarify this statement: "when watching a show that was not set up to be recording", or give us an example?

The Comskip program normally works in the background and on a timed schedule will look for new recordings to process or missing recordings to remove the files no-longer needed.

Are you wanting it to process LiveTV, or added video files?

yes... live tv.... i thought it could process live tv if you gave it enough skip ahead time like a 1/2 hour in a one hour show

I know it has that behavior when I watch timeshifted favorites, 20 minutes into a recording the timeline will pop as the commercial skip segments as the .txt or .edl file is created.

I would think the process would be the same with Live TV since it is also a recorded file, but Live TV sometimes has its own quirky behaviors.

Someone else may still know the answer.

Make sure your comskip.ini has:
live_tv=1

I remember asking Erik (at least I think I did) whether or not it's best to replace the .ini file when upgrading to new Comskip builds. I recall his answer was a yes, as to benefit from new tunings, etc.

I guess it's only a very minor thing to have to remember to set this everytime I update. I used to do this for .edl output anyway.

Random thought...
