I think they use flash. I don't think SageTV can do flash video. PROVE ME WRONG.

I'm sorry but aren't some of the videos in the Online Media flash? Google Video, YouTube Videos, etc?

Ooo look...an MTVN Content API too.
MTVN Developer Services
Quote:
The MTVN Content API returns video feeds and entries in Atom or RSS format. Each <entry> corresponds to a single video.
Maybe it could be added to Online Media.

ok... I agree... productivity is going to go down the "tubes." I don't know about the high quality the article claims, but if this can be coded for search and queue in Sage I'll be happy as a pig in slop.

Other than perhaps offering better PQ, and the occasional "world premiere".... aren't pretty much all music videos up on youtube anyway? Seems like many are actually posted "officially" by the label.

Nonetheless... anything more we can add to Sage makes it "feel" better.

Yeah, its definitely the added picture quality thats of interest, Youtube video is barely watchable on a large screen.

Thumbs up MTV's new MTVM video site -- add to online services?

Just saw this site went up in the last couple days. It looks like MTV has posted their music video catalog online, and you can view it for FREE! I've only checked it out for a bit, but it looks pretty amazing.

Here's the link: http://www.mtvmusic.com/

This would certainly be a great addition to Online Services.

Check it out if you like vids.

well, I don't think it is EVERY video. I found about 2 out of 10 I searched for - but it has 22,000 videos - which are more than I though were ever made.

Nope, definitely not every video.

But here's what their FAQ says:

"We know not every music video is up on the site (yet), but we are hard at work adding them as fast as we can (and in high res)."

There's only one question in the FAQ, and that's pretty much the entire answer.

what's their definition of "high res" though? It's only watchable in windowed form. Fullscreen of the ones I've searched has been on par or worse than youtube/google.

Thumbs up

Not sure if it helps anyone but here is the API for search. It returns the results in RSS format.

http://developer.mtvnservices.com/do..._search_method

Method Path

HTML Code:
http://api.mtvnservices.com/1/video/search/[parameters]
Parameters
term - Specify the search query with the term parameter. The MTVN Content API will search for the term or terms within all available video metadata. You must URL-escape all spaces, punctuation and quotes. The search term "buddy holly" would look like this %22buddy+holly%22 . Required - Yes

max-results - Limit the maximum number of results through use of the max-results parameter. The default value is 25. The maximum value is 100. Required - No

start-index - Choose the first result to display in the returns. The first return is start-index=1. When used with the max-results parameter, multiple pages of results can be created. The default value is 1. Required - No

Atom Request Example

HTML Code:
http://api.mtvnservices.com/1/video/search/?term=pearl+jam&max-results=5&start-index=1
