If STX-HD100 can play dvr-mx files why dvr-ms is not listed in specification?

Regarding dvr-ms over HD extender I found here http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=28942 the following statement:
"If the (dvr-ms )files have no DRM, they should play. But encrypted/DRMed files can't be played on an extender."

My questions are:
1. If STX-HD100 can play at least non-DRMed dvr-ms files, why this extension is missing from specification?
2. Can someone confirm that I'll be able to view my existing non-encrypted HD (!) dvr-ms files ?
I'm positive that they are non-encrypted because I created them with VideoRedo.

While I have no dvr-ms file to state whether they work or not, my guess is if this format is suported that Sage is not listing it as a feature because most who read "non-encrypted dvr-ms files" are going to skip right over the non-encrytped and then be pissed off when they get the HD100 and it can't play them (because they are encrypted) AND let's not forget the giant in-flux of support questions as to why their dvr-ms files aren't playing when Sage states they support them. All of this is not worth the headaches.

Isn't DVR-MS without encryption just a mpeg2 file?

The extenders and SageTV all handle mpeg2 files just fine - as long as there is no DRM crippling the content.

What about subtitles in dvr-ms?

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I'm 50% there :-) but not yet... I need to view subtitles in dvr-ms, this is crucial for me. Can anyone confirm that HD extender displays subtitles/captions during playback of dvr-ms files?

It's mpeg-2 audio and video in an asf container, as opposed to the standard MPEG-2 Program Stream container.

Hopefully someone will be able to give you a definitive answer, but I doubt it.
