Thumbs down Bad news: EVR doesnt work with 6.5.1 beta

I just did a typical upgrade from SageTV 6.4.8 to 6.5.1. Under detailed info, it automatically used EVR as my renderer. I tried both the sageTV video decoder and Cyberlink 8 decoders.

I get 3D menus. However, I get no video, just audio. I have tried this with the stock sageTV STV and sageMC.

What's the trick to get EVR to show video (even with the native sageTV mpeg2 decoder)?

Hi,

Same here (with ArcSoft or Sage decoders) but I get no sound either. I get no sound even when I switch to VMR9.

Help.

Damn! Same for me.

On 2 systems, both running Vista Ultimate. One with Nvidia 8600GT, the other with ATI 2600XT. I get audio but but just black screen. Just like when using the "old" version of graphedit that doesn't support EVR.

VRM9 produces video.

Edit: forgot to mention same result with mpeg2 and H.264

Dont worry guys, I have a feeling who ever created the installer for 6.5.1 might have accidentally not included the latest EVR dependant files. I seriously doubt they would blatantly post an installer that doesnt work for anyone.

I predict, we will see instructions shortly to replace a file or two and get a newer installer version of 6.5.1.

Yup...same here. No display with Arcsoft or Cyberlink h.264 decoders with EVR. Switching to Overlay and everything works.

Definitely gives the appearance of a packaging error, but we'll see.

I have a feeling that mkanet is right... I'm also experiencing the same problems.

I quickly went to edit this option in sageclient.properties:
9. Added property 'mplayer/use_for_mkv_playback' which defaults to true and tells SageTV to use 'SageTVPlayer' for all MKV playback on Windows
only to find it's not there either...

Also support mentioned some fixes for hdhomerun that doesn't appear to work either.

Damn.... I was all pumped to try out the EVR support. Any comment from Sage on this? Hoping a new build be released quickly to remedy this.

Same results here with a clean client install.

Has anyone gotten video to show via EVR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES? There must have been at least one working solution by one of the SageTV developers who was confident enough to release it to the entire public to try.

This has to be a simple mistake of forgetting a .dll or something. Just give them time to post the missing file, and see if you can test the other stuff they fixed.

Is there any way to turn off EVR until there is a fix?

...Nevermind. It's the same place overlay/vmr9 is selected. I need more coffee this morning.

Yes, switch to VMR9 or the other rendering options.

As for the sound issue, Play a different file for a few seconds and then go back and play the one you wanted. Its worked a few times for me.

About to start looking into this; but I've got a quick idea that might fix it. Try running this from DOS in the SageTV folder:

regsvr32.exe STVEVRPrstr.dll

That may be all that's needed to fix it (we had to change how that registers in the installer because it fails on systems that don't have the EVR; but we had to supress that error in the installer so we may have done something wrong there)

Getting warmer. This fix works great for me when I watch live and recorded TV, but I have the same issue as before (audio, no video) when watching MKV files. I'm guessing I may need to file a bug report for that piece. Anyone else having luck?
