FIX for EVR Support in V6.5.1
Go to a DOS window, cd into the SageTV folder and run this command:
regsvr32.exe STVEVRPrstr.dll Then EVR support should work properly in SageTV. We'll put out another installer early next week with this fixed; but this should work for now.

IN VISTA: Go to Start, Run and type cmd in the run box then press ok.
a command window will open. At the command prompt type cd\program files\sagetv\sagetv and press enter your prompt should change to c:\program files\sagetv\sagetv type regsvr32.exe STVEVRPrstr.dll and press enter you should then get a message saying STVEVRPrstr.dll was registered. Close your message and command windows and you should be ready to go. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR SPELLING AS YOU TYPE IT IN.

Same thing. I'm running 2003 server. Would that matter?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with 2003 but it should be similar.
Just be sure you are at a command prompt and in the folder where STVEVRPrstr.dll is located when you type in the command. If it still doesn't work, let us know. Maybe someone who knows 2003 will have an answer for you.

I'm definitely in the right place and I actually copied the file name and pasted to be sure. Still the same.
Thanks

Enhanced Video Rendering requires DXVA2 which is a new feature with Vista. Not supported by older versions of Windows. It's doubtful Microsoft will add DXVA2 to XP (or Server 2003) - I can't see them investing more development effort in a product that (officially at least) has been retired.

Can't you do EVR if you have .NET 3.5 (on XP/2003)?

2003 doesn't have any DirectX components from the DirectX runtime. You need more than just .NET 3.5 on 2003.

I am having the same problem. I am running XP SP3 with .NET 3.5 installed before SageTV. XP was a clean install as of Nov. 7th. XP with .NET 3.5 will emulate DXVA 2.0 according to sources on the www. I am not sure on the dependency of the decoder to recognize the emulated DXVA 2.0. I will do a bit more research to make sure nothing needs to be configured in .NET and get back to y'all.

You can also shift Right click on the folder and run a command prompt, or use DSFM.

Good idea to try DSFM but ended with the same error. Now I wonder if there is a missing .ax file that was never intended to be installed with xp/2003/whs systems? Just a shot in the dark.

Just to add a comment, when opening the cmd prompt window, I had to open it with "Run as Administrator" in order to get the dll to register without error.
Now, it looks good! If only the G35 chipset had enough "umph" for proper 3D acceleration of HD-PVR recordings. It really makes me happy I am replacing it with the Asus 9300 based board. -Brian |

Did some Googling last night. Have not had time to follow through, though. One suggestion from the Internet:
The assumption is that the error message is a bit of a red herring. It's not the DLL itself that the issue. It's a dependent object.

The file you're looking for is evr.dll (found with a helpful little tool from Microsoft Visual Studio called Depends). It was missing from my system as well, even with a clean XP SP3 install. I retrieved it from another system and just copied it in the Windows\System32 folder.

I installed Windows Media Player 11. Rebooted. And it registered... It was one of the only components that I had not installed with the WinXP basic install and based on the types of DLLs that were missing, it was another shot in the dark and it worked. Hope it helps others! |
