Server causes crash but not extenders.
My set up first
Extenders HD100 and MVP and Placeshifter laptop Encoders HDPVR 2 PVR's 150 Server 1.8G Dual core MSI MB 2 g RAM Vision tek 256 ram video latest Ver Sage My monitor is using video out to control server When I do different things in SAGE on server such as but not limited to Stop Playback , Record Show. or any function it causes the server to crash. Now If I do the same functions on the Extenders I have no crashing no matter what I do. My server is running nothing but SAGE and runs about 50% most of the time at the time of crashes it is well below 100%. It is also not dependent on which encoder is being used. I have reinstalled sage several times even tried an older verson with no change. Reinstalled complete server OS no help. Changed video cards no help. I have run out of things to try Any suggestion Ed |

Well, are you seeing your Sage Server Crash when you are transcoding to the MVP? Why do I ask? The Transcoder is single threaded, meaning it can only use one Core at a time. If you are seeing 50% usage, then most likely it means that one core is maxed out and that is what is causing your crash. Whatever is maxing out that core could be your culprit and my guess is it is the transcoder..... Now this doesn't make sense if you are seeing crashes when using the HD100, as it should play everything natively without needing to be transcoded....

Thanks for the reply.
I ran a bunch of test with these observations Shutting down of MVP made no difference in problem. Changed out 2 PVR 150 with PVR 1600 made no difference Tried running 2 PVR 150 and or 1600 without HDPVR still crashed Ran HDPVR with out PVR 150 or 1600 installed in SAGE the server is very stable and I can't cause a crash. Go Figure. Thanks again Ed |
