Anyone else having to reset the HD200

The first time my better half messed up the extender I thought it a fluke and found out how to do a full reset and performed one Monday night. That fixed it, and Tuesday I watched a few shows without a hitch. Tonight I come home and she says she couldn't watch her show again, came up with the popup error box (i forget what it says) So I had to reset it again. That seems odd. I am using the extender against 6.4.8 on a WHS server so not the beta. (nor the beta on the hd200, I think the firmware is Dec 1st. )
I'm hoping its not normal. what's everyone else experiencing?
-Bill

I've had to do a couple of hard resets myself. I'm running the beta HD200 software. Sometimes when I power off and the power on again (soft reset) it doesn't find the Sage server. If I power off again and power back on a second time the server is usually found. About once a day I have to do a hard reset. Tonight in the middle of watching a recording the HD200 shut itself down. I had to power toggle on/off/on before the server was found again. Finished the program without further incident.

There is some work to be done yet.

I have not received any sort of error message, but occasionally mine will not power up from the remote and I have to remove/reinsert the power cable. I just got mine on Monday, and it happened three times Monday night and Tuesday. Yesterday it worked fine.

Power cycling doesn't fix it for me. I have to follow the procedure in the manual to hard reset it back to defaults to make mine work again. Basically, pull the plug, hold down the "delete" key and plug in the power, then wait for the red light to blink twice. after that you wait about 4-5 minutes and then you have to setup the box again with its IP and put in the weather zipcode again.

I bought 3 HD-200s. I have hooked two of them up with each one having the same issue.

I can watch recorded files but after about 30 mins the extender will lock up. At that point I can back out of the recording but if I try to play anything else I get a sage.playback exception error.

I can power off the unit but when I power it back on it will make it to the SageTv loading screen but will never go past it. I have to go unplug the unit then it will work again.

This is on two different units. I have tried the factory reset, the firmware that came with it, and the beta firmware. I have tried it in standalone mode and connected to the sageserver. I haven't had time to unbox the 3rd unit yet.

These are recordings made with the HD-PVR and ripped dvds. The same files play fine on an HD-100 extender and on the client.

I am not running the beta on my Sage Server, but the latest final release.

I had to reset the extender attached to my SD TV during my first day of setup, but I've not had any problems since. The HD TV attached extender has never had a problem (but I upgraded the firmware on that extender before I set it up, whereas the HD200 attached to the SD TV got a workout before upgrading 'cuz I was too excited to bother with the upgrade...that might explain my problem with it).

Also, my wife doesn't even try to watch TV without me...with 5 different remotes sitting next to the couch she doesn't have a clue about how to turn on the TV or select different inputs. (Yeah, 5: Toshiba HDTV, Onkyo 5.1 surround, Oppo DVD, Comcast DVR, and HD200...I may have to get a good universal remote: the HD200 remote is so hard to use it's actually painful).

I've had to do a few power cycles too. In my case, the most repetitive issue is when I try to play an mkv file that it doesn't know how to handle. It gives me the exception error, which I assume is valid but then continues to give it for every file I try to play and also with live tv. If I unplug/replug the unit I can get it working again. Powering off and on with the remote doesn't fix it.

I also had to use the reset procedure once. I took one of my 2 units into work to show off and when I took it home that night it wouldn't come up until I did the reset. In the office, I couldn't get it to turn on without power cycling. Ever since then it's worked fine though.

This has been happening to me (with every firmware version I've tried, including beta).

It will work fine for as long as I have it on (at least a couple hours). Then I turn it off by the remote. If I turn it on again in a few minutes, it works fine. If I leave it off for several hours, it usually won't come back on.

This happens if I turn it off at night and try to turn it on again the next morning. When I hit the power button on the remote, the red LED will blink once but nothing else happens. It will then ignore the power button completely (it won't blink again when I push the power button again).

I have to unplug the power and plug it back in again. After that, everything is ok until it is off for a while again.

I have to reset mine every time I try to watch a YouTube or Google video. Any time (seems random so far) before the 10 second mark the screen freezes.

Sometimes if I wait long enough the HD200 reboots itself. Other times I have to pull the power plug.

It also happened once with an MKV file.

There have also been 2 instances where I powered it off and then it would not come back on unless I pulled the power plug.

yay.

We are getting the sage.playback.exception error about once a day.

Unplugging the power & plugging it back in fixes it.

I've filed a support request & they had me send them a 3 minute recording from one of our Vip211 R5000s.

Now just waiting to see what they say.

I guess I am not alone. But for me reboots and removing power doesn't change a thing. I have to do the special reset. But after that it works fine for me. Even the next day. I did it last night before we could watch tv. in a little while I will try tonight and see if its still gold...

I haven't reported mine because it's been very sporadic. I've only had my HD200's since Monday evening, but will probably submit a bug report or two once I've had a weekend to use them a little more and figure out the problem scenarios.

When I got my HD200 last Monday I upgraded Sage to the 6.5.3 beta and installed the latest firmware (as of last Monday, don't know if there is a newer one or not). I've only had one glitch with the HD200 (not a total lockup, but really blocky and slow playback in the middle of a show) that required me to turn it off and on to resolve. Otherwise it's been rock solid so far.

I loaded the beta firmware this morning, and the problem with the exception error is still there. All I have to do is to attempt to open a file known to cause the exception. Once I do that, it doesn't matter what else I open I get the message.

What type of file are you trying to playback that causes the exception? Just curious...

My first playback exception happened with an mkv with 1080p h264 video, DTS sound, 2 ogg vorbis commentary tracks, and 13 subtitle tracks. After remuxing the file with the video, primary audio track, and only two subtitle tracks, it played ok. This particular instance did not cause other files to fail too.

The second exception, which affected all files, happened immediately after playing an audio album in flac. Loading the beta firmware cleared it up for now.

I can make it happen when attempting to play a particular transport stream recorded with a MyHD card, and also a file that recorded incorrectly from a dvb-s card. When I open either of those I get the exception, after which I can't play anything without power cycling. I've also had issues with poorly encoded mkv files causing the hd200 to lockup entirely also requiring a power cycle to fix.

Well, it seems I spoke too soon.

Got home tonight & tried to play a recording & got the exception again.

I've sent this info to Sage Support.
