Just got my first Playback Exception error while viewing a HD-PVR recording. Had to unplug and restart the HD200. Hopefully Sage is working on this.

I think Sage has been working on it. I just downloaded the latest beta firmware and I'm not getting the message any longer. I can also recover my hd200 without having to power cycle.

I just tested with the same files that were screwing it up before.

The out-of-spec mkv file caused the hd200 to get hung up for a couple minutes but it eventually recovered.

The file from the MyHD worked this time. I think the .tp extension may have thrown it off, but it's playing properly now.

The corrupt file from the dvb-s card still caused it to barf. I couldn't get it to do anything after attempting to play the file. The good news is that I was able to turn it off and back on with the remote and was able to recover. No power cycle. I've deleted the file now so it shouldn't get me again.

All-in-all, this is a pretty good move forward! There's still work to be done but it's progress.

Looks like I spoke too soon. I tried playing an mkv file that had a screwed up audio track this afternoon and while I didn't get the exception message the hd200 was left in a bad state. It would no longer display any audio or video on any file or on live tv. Correcting this condition required a power cycle. Powering off and on with the remote didn't fix it.

Back to the drawing board Sage.

Wow, installed the 1217 beta software on the hd200 and it seems like a new machine! It now responds much faster, especially to skip forward and back!! Although I installed 1212 over last weekend it messed up a couple of times but for some reason was rock solid from Monday on. This new build and really helped the usability and the WAF.

After having the 20081217 firmware build for a few days now I have not received any playback errors since.

HD200 Problems

I am running the lastest beta and sometimes my unit will not turn on with the remote. I am also unable to connect to my Netgear (Infrant) NV+

Got the dreaded error tonight for the first time. I just updated to the latest beta firmware and this error happened right after. I got it while playing a ripped dvd and music files.

I also have intermittent issue where I get a Sage Playback error or where the Extender won't connect. These require a power cycle on the extender or, in a few instances, a restart of my Sage software on the PC.

This is very frustrating now. Never happened to me since I have had the HD200 now its happening all the time. Is this a problem with the beta firmware for the hd200 or the Sagetv release candidate software? Anyway to go back?

I can not EVER power up my HD200 with the remote. The only way to start the unit is to reset the power plug. I know it is not a problem with the remote since I can use the remote on another HD200 and it works fine. Any help?

What firmware level are you running? I forget which release fixed it, but I haven't experienced this issue in a couple weeks now.

I am using the most recent beta firmware - 20081222 I believe.

I found the instructions on how to reset the unit using the delete key when you plug it in. It appears to have corrected the power-up problem. Thanks

Same issue for me

I've been having the same problem with my HD200 (latest beta firmware and latest beta/RC WHS Sage server). My tuner is an HD-PVR.

The HD200 video repeatedly (maybe once a day on average) freezes when watching live TV through the HD-PVR (my only tuner). The menus still work, but I get a "playback exception error" for everything until I disconnect the power and reboot the HD200 (powering off with remote won't do the trick). Nothing at all will play until I do this (keep getting playback exception error), not live TV, not recordings, and not any of the many video file formats I have on my server.

Once rebooted things are fine.

I put in a bug report...
