Setting up a 2nd HDPVR

I have one HDPVR working well with my HD DirecTV via serial. No channel change problems, no lock ups.

So I now want to add a second one. Here is the problem: the video is scrambled. I check the DirecTV signal, and it is fine when I hook up a tv to it. But when I run it through the HDPVR it scrambles the signal.

Now both HDPVRs have the same hookups, were ordered at the same time from Newegg, and have the same driver. Anyone have any suggestions that might point me in the right direction to figure out why this is happening?

Disconnect the second HD PVR and all of it's cables from your system. Verify that your first is still working properly. Then disconnect the cables from the back of your first HD PVR and plug the second in in it's place, using all the cables from the first unit. (so you are just replacing the HD PVR unit itself) Try it now and see if it works. I have read of several people having bad cables come thru with their HD PVR. Good luck. Hope it's not a bad unit, but this should tell the tale.

Here I thought it was a stupid question I asked. I figured it just had to be a bad unit. But lo and behold, the idea of bad cables never even occurred to me! I will check that out when I get home tonight.

I got two at the same time as well - the first one I set up was fine.
Both play fine through arcsoft.
When I add the second into my Sage setup I lose stability and it starts locking up. Also, the second unit plays back choppy sometimes.

For now, I have removed the second one from my setup in Sage - it's still connected, it's just not doing anything.

I'm not sure if it's too much for the USB bus to keep up with. I've got a PCI USB card that I may put in to see if helps.

I have 2 hooked up and runs really well. Like you were saying try to put each on a different bus. On mine I do have them on separate internal USB buses.

Yeah actually come to think of it I have one plugged in the front of my comp and one on the back and I haven't had any issues. That's an interesting observation you made. I run mine in a server mode and only extenders watch TV, never off the server.
