Percieved reduction in HD200 video quality

Hi

Is there any technical reason that might explain why I percieve the HD200 video quality to be inferior to the HD100?

Are the codecs that are in use the same?

Steve

If anything, the HD200 should be better. What specifically is "inferior"? Maybe it's a calibration thing. Is it on the same display?

Hi

It's hard to define.

Yes, I've replaced two HD100's with HD200's. Units output video via HDMI.

One is connected to the same 1080P DLP rear projection set and generally I perceive the picture to have more 'noise' than the old HD100 and softer.

The second is connected to the same 1080P LCD. This seems to demonstrate a more significant reduction in quality. I have configured this to run at 720P as when I configure it for 1080P I got a small vertical purple bar running down the right hand side of the screen (did not have this with the HD100). My perception with this TV that artifacts take longer to sharpen than with the HD100 and also I perceive a 'delay', i.e. when the camera pans quickly it seems to 'jump' or 'jerk' more than it did with the HD100.

If I was to liken it to anything it might be similar to using a poorer quality codec on a PC.

I wish I could be more specific.

I've scanned the forums previously and noted that nobody else has commented on the picture quaility and therefore agree with you that I may have something configured incorrectly.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

Steve
