Well, voidpt's Yamaha 2700 is a current model and "high-end" at that so my hypothesis needs to be tested.

My main receiver is 2003 circa mid-range model STR-AV1080QS which doesn't have the issue so may be it being old renders it immune.

I also have a brand new Yamaha 363 low end model which I will test to see if this exhibits the behaviour you guys are describing.

Well, high-end is relative. It does cost money. But there are other routes to really go for it I bought it because of the 8 track uncompressed PCM over HDMI capabilities. Wanted to experience the new audio formats on my Blu-Ray's. But I agree. It is pretty new, and should have a DTS decoder that have enough power and possible bugs eliminated.

@some-new-stuff

Have just reported to SageTV some new behaviour I found out. I put back my HD100 just to check things out there. Since 20081222 0 also was available for HD100 I upgraded. Played back my sample MKV. Expected no problems. But got the same there. Clipping just like HD200. Downgraded HD100 to latest release version 20080812 0. Then the MKV played without problems. No audio clippings on the DTS track. I have tried firmware 20081201 0 on HD200, still has the problem.

So story is. With my equipment, only way to avoid the problem is using HD100 with firmware 20080812 0. All other combination gives the clipping DTS.

Since 20081222 0 now is released for HD100 (beta only though) we may be on our way to find out how widespread this issue is. Hope it is not. And that SageTV can find out what is happening for us who do have it.

I will, when time permits, try to go through my library to find out if there is difference between possible MKV and DVD's I got with DTS tracks.

I have the same problem with DTS now. Has anyone received a confirmation from Sage Tech support about this problem?

This definitely improved things. There's still some dropouts, but the sound isn't too bad now. I'd hate to have to run every mkv file I have with DTS sound through the process though. It would definitely eat up some time. Hopefully Sage can come up with a fix before too long.

I got confirmation from support a little while ago. They said it's a known problem and they are working on it. It's good to know they have seen the issue too. That's the first step in getting a fix.

Problem solved. At least for my sample MKV clip. I tried out the 20081223 0 beta firmware for HD200. And just like 20080812 0 for HD100, it plays the DTS audio without problems.
Good work SageTV

Yep, latest beta makes DTS work again. Case closed.

It definitely has fixed a lot of problems, but I'm not sure it's a 100% fix yet. Some of my files still have some minor skipping however I need to do some further testing to see if it's in the file or is an hd200 issue.

I know this is an old thread but I just got an HD200 and have the same problem. Using the latest FW and tried the beta. Both give the same drops in DTS playback. Any solution to that?

I am seeing the same issues. Write a problem report with Sage and they will ask you to create log files to submit to them. My issues has gotten much worse as of late, and it definitely seems to be due to Sage's processing of the DTS audio stream.

Having same issue, what a pain. I bought 4 of these extenders, and they all seem to work fine, except i cannot play any DTS tracks on any of them. I have them hoooked up to receivers and they decode the DTS, but it cuts out like every 3-4 seconds in DTS.

Anyone have any ideas?

I was having the same problems with DTS from mkv video files I have. Reported the issue to SageTV. They came back and said that it's actually the way that MKV packages the DTS. If I use tsMuxer to put the very same video and audio into an m2ts container the DTS audio plays flawlessly through my receiver.

Hopefully they will make their MKV support better. It used to work fine, so there is no doubt in my mind something was changed for the worse about 6 months ago.

At this point does it really matter? The only thing I'm lacking going from MKV to M2TS is chapters. Which I've never used since SageTV doesn't support anyway. I decided the lack of chapters really didn't matter since SageTV saves the position of the video where I stopped it. I still have both DTS and AC3 tracks and both work. Seems like a net plus all around to me.

The programs I use to convert DVD's and Blu-rays use MKV or MP4 as the default. It's easiest for me, so yes- if Sage can fix it, I'd like them to.

I can't really argue with that.

Although I have figured out another advantage to an M2TS container. It allows you to use smooth FF and REW which SageTV can't use on MKV.

I have this problem with my two HD100 (latest beta firmware) connected to my Denon 2308CI receiver via HDMI.

I used the following utility to create an AC-3 track which resolves the problem for me (only works with mkv files):
Utility: SAGEAudioConvert, DTS to AC-3

Is this a dead issue then? Will there ever be a fix? Have any of you gotten an answer?

I would open a bug report, but with so many already saying this is a problem, I'd rather not open one and waste everyone's time until I hear how it went for the numerous folks having these problems with DTS playback in an MKV container..
