If you don't want live TV, you can set up an MS Virtual PC (search for it, it's free) and install Vista within that virtual PC, share the local media drives with that virtual PC, and connect the extender to it...I've seen it work for people using an original MC extender in an XP Virtual PC, it certainly should work with Vista like this.
