MVP Transcoder, Server maxed out
I have a MVP client running on a P4 2ghz server.
When I playback an MPEG4 (xvid, divx...) the transcoder service runs near 100% CPU, drops frames and shudders. From the posts I've found on here it looks like it is possible to change the quality of the transcoder, but I can't find any real clear info on how to do it. Can anyone help? - Greg |

Go into Detailed Setup-Server-Media Extender Conversion Quality. But good luck with transcoding on a P4 2Ghz server. I would consider that underpowered for that process.

Thanks Gerry
I had forgotten about that setting, it was on High, so I'll try tonight and see if the server can keep up now. - Greg |

Yeah, I have the HD200 for the living room and it is great. This is for a spare guest room so I don't want to foot another $200 right now since I have the MVP. The MVP is OK for SD content but it is dying under the pressure of HD stuff when it transcodes.
