Can HD-PVR ver D2 use older drivers like 1.03.47?

I have an older C2 HD-PVR. I recently got a replacement unit from Hauppauge to see if that solves my overheating issue. But I seem to have a problem with the newer drivers and the Hauppauge IR blaster. So I would like to use the older 1.03.47 driver. However, if I try to install that driver with the new version D2 box hooked up, I get an error that the system cannot find any compatible hardware. I have no problems getting the newer 1.5.3 drivers installed.

My problem with the 1.5.3 drivers is that I cannot get the HD-PVR to record properly AND get the built in Hauppauge IR blaster working at the same time. If I reboot my system, I always have to power cycle the HD-PVR to get it to show any data. Prior to power cycling the unit, I always get a "No Signal" error. I always get a good picture in Sage after power cycling the HD-PVR. I can recreate these two things at will.

The problem is that the IR Blaster will not work after power cycling the computer. This happened on the older C2 version that I had too while running the 1.3.47 driver. But with the old hardware and driver, I simply had to turn the SageService off and then back on. This would give me a good picture from the HD-PVR AND the IR blaster would work.

But with the newer driver, when I cycle the SageService, it makes the HD-PVR go back into its "No Signal" state. So I have to power cycle the HD-PVR. But that makes the IR blaster not work. It's a vicious catch22.

I'm hoping that going back to the older 1.3.47 driver will allow me to cycle the SageService and still allow the HD-PVR to show a good picture.

I should mention that I tried other drivers with the old C2 version and had the same results as far as the IR blaster not working. So I had fallen back to the 1.3.47 drivers and everything worked fine. So if I can load the 1.3.47 drivers with the D2 hardware, I think I'd be happy. But I get the no compatible hardware error when trying to install the 1.3.47 drivers with the D2 Hardware version.

Hopefully this makes sense to everyone. I'm at my wits end with this thing. So any suggestions would help.

Thanks,

Brian

Here are some specs on my system in case anyone needs to know.
P4 3.0Ghz (630 chip), 2 GB Ram, XP Pro, using HD-100 for playback
Latest release version on SageTV (no recent betas).

Are you using the windows installer or the Hauppauge installer? You should be able to install the drivers from the driver CD or hard drive through the Windows installer by going through your hardware settings, choosing the HD-PVR, going to properties and choosing update driver.

It may be easier if you just uninstall the device first and letting Windows find it.

I had tried the Hauppauge installer when I got the error message about not finding any compatible hardware. So I will try the windows driver installer method.

Does anyone have a D2 version running on one of the old drivers? I can't imagine that the hardware changed so much that you cannot use the older drivers, but it just seems strange that the Hauppauge installer worked for the newer drivers but not the older drivers.

I tried installing the old drivers with the new D2 version of the HD-PVR and had no joy using the regular Windows installer.

So at this point, I've gone back to my C2 version and the older 1.0.47 driver. This combination is working for me again. I get a good signal from the HD-PVR and can also change the channel.

I've sent an e-mail to Hauppauge support to see if they have any ideas. I guess I should send a support request to SageTV too.

But if anyone else has any better ideas I'd love to hear them.

Thanks,
