Upconverting?

I have my HD100 connected via HDMI, BUT my AVR only upconverts analog signals, so I may connect it with components depending on the opinions to this question.

Let's take a simple example: If my STB outputs a signal to the HD100 at 480p, should I have the HD100 upconvert to 1080p, or should I let my SONY DG920 AVR do it?

Upconverting: Changing an analog signal into a digital signal for transmission. Usually component or svideo to HDMI.

Upscaling: Taking a lower resolution picture and interpolating a higher resolution picture from it.

You are technically asking if you should have the extender upscale the 480p signal.

Have the extender output 1080p over HDMI.
