Setup help

I am tring to understand how to correctly configure the setup for my
Sage HTPC.

Current Setup
DirecTV.
2 coaxial cable coming off the satalite dish
Tivo DVR with 2 cable input for satalite cables - Dual tuner
- Svideo and Digital Audio out
- Composite Video and Audio out

I also have a NON tivo DirecTv box that has not been used. But it only has one cable input in the back of it. Similar to this.

If I keep and use the DirecTV Tivo box (which has two cable inputs on the back) - will that cause any problems for Sage? Or should I use 2 plane old direcTV stbs without tivo?

My hauppauge 2250 doesnt have a digital audio input. And the NON tivo directv stb I have only has composite audio out. Can anyone tell me how the audio is done. Do I need to buy some kind of digital audio input
for my htpc? The pc I built currently has a spdif out but not in.

No reason you can't continue to use the DirecTV Tivo box as a standalone DVR in addition to your SageTV system, but you should not use it as an input to your Sage system unless you hide the Tivo remote and never use that box as a DVR again. SageTV needs complete control over channel changing on the STB, so you do not want the STB changing channels on its own to perform its own internal DVR function. If you want to be able to record two channels at once in Sage, your best bet is to use two non-DVR DirecTV boxes.

I don't own a 2250 but from the picture it looks like it has headers for separate A/V input brackets. These brackets most likely have RCA input jacks for composite video and analog stereo audio. You'll connect those inputs to the composite A/V outputs of your STBs.

You'll also need an IR blaster to allow Sage to change channels on your STBs.

You didn't say whether you get HD on your DirecTV setup, but if so, this hookup will not record HD in Sage. It will record downconverted SD coming out the SD outputs of your STB.

Currently with my DirecTV tivo box - it has digital audio out and I take that directly in to my Stereo Reciever Digital audio in. The NON Tivo DirecTV box I have does not have a digtial audio out - only composite. Do you know if DirecTV makes stbs with digital audio out? Also if they do - How do I get two digital audio lines into the TV tuner card Hauppauge 2250?

I cant get video on the TV. I am using a DirecTV R10 STB. Its a tivo box - I am assuming I can use this box without using the tivo?

I have S-video coming out of the R10 and into the s_video input on my WinTV-HVR-2250 tuner card. Then I have s-Video coming out of my video card into my Reciever and from the reciever to the tv.

Is the correct way to get the video from the pc to the tv is out of the video card into the display? I am using remote desktop software to see Sage on the htpc. I can see the live tv on the pc but am unable to get the video to display on the tv? Any help?
