Comcast going all digital - Will HDHomeRun work for me?

Seattle, Washington area. Just talked to Comcast support, she said in June, 2009 Comcast will move all basic and extended analog channels 30 - 99 to digital. They will provide me with two Pace DTA DC50X digital transport adapters at no charge for TV's without a full blown set top box. I have done a lot of research and have it on good authority that these Pace DTA's are simply a CLEAR QAM tuner that will convert to an analog feed to an analog TV. These units will not be able to decrypt anything! What I understand is that Comcast will provide channels 2 - 99 in the clear to be able to work with these DTA's,

If these channels are in the clear I looks like the HDHomeRun should be my solution, am I right about this? I am currently using one Hauppauge PVR-500 MCE with analog cable input.

Just wanted to be sure before I buy one, any input or comments welcome. Thanks

Ken

From your description it seems like they will be switching the analog channels to clear QAM, if that is the case, the HDHR would be the solution.

I would give Comcast a call back and tell them you have a digital TV that supports Clear QAM (most HD televisions do), and ask if you will need the Pace box for that specific TV. That will give you a more definite answer.
