HD100 & 1080p artifacting

I have tried searching but have ironically found too many posts with differing opinions on the HD100 and 1080p support. I continue to have problems playing any content whose "height" in Mediainfo is reported as over 1000 lines, but I see people reporting that 1080p plays back fine. I continue to get very bad motion based macro-blocking on all the truly high resolution video I try.

The extender is directly connected via a CAT6 cable to the gigabit switch the server is on so its not a bandwidth issue. I have also re-encoded these MKV files multiple times to see if its an encoding issue, but nothing seems to work for files that are over 1000 lines.

Can anyone verify that the HD100 plays 1080p? I really want to know if this is this just a "me" problem or am I a "1.0" victim for having not waited for the HD200?

TIA

It's a HD100 issue.

What bitrate does MediaInfo report these files are at?

It can vary. Since the files I am having problems with are all 1920 x 1xxx they usually are usually higher bitrate, but I can find examples where the higher bitrate / lower resolution file works and the higher resolution / lower bitrate does not. Here's an example;

MKV1: 1920 x 816 @ 11.9 Mbps - plays fine
MKV2: 1920 x 1040 @11.6 Mbps - macro blocking /artifacting.

I have read through several threads and tried changing the number of reference frames and changing the profile from 5.1 to 5.0 to 4.1 with no luck. The encoding parameters don't seem matter much either. If the files are over 1000 pixels in height the HD100 macro blocks badly.

Hmm... it's probably the bitrate. My BD rips are lower by about half and I don't have any macroblocking problems at full 1080p. The one movie I have that I know is full frame and has no cropping has an average rate of 3337Kb and, IMHO, looks great. Of course, I use CRF mode when encoding which varies the bitrate according to an approximate quality level. So, depending on the content the actual bitrate varies widely during playback.

Even 1080p files that I have encoded correctly, and I've written in several threads about that, do not play correctly on my HD100. HD200 is no problem.

Of course, YMMV.

here is the x264 command-line I'm using in MeGUI to produce my results. All files play fine on the HD100. Don't have an HD200 yet but I'm sure they'll play fine there as well.

Code:
--crf 26 --keyint 240 --min-keyint 24 --ref 4 --mixed-refs --no-fast-pskip --bframes 3 --b-pyramid --weightb --direct auto --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --me umh --merange 24 --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-dct-decimate --no-psnr --no-ssim
Edit: I also get full flawless accelerated DXVA2 playback on my SageTV client in Vista with these rips.

Unfortunately my mileage does not....

I have continued to look at this and I can't find a 1000 line file that will play. I even tried re-encoding the file with a lower constant bitrate and it does not seem to help. I think this is in fact a HW issue and the device just seems incapable of dealing with anything over 1000 pixels in height.

Can you confirm the Width x Height of the files you are producing? Are they over 1000 pixels in height?

Yes, I can definitely confirm that. My largest has a full frame 1920x1080. I actually have a couple like that. I have more that are around 1920x1040. Most are below 1000 but they all play fine on my HD100.
