HD-100 stutter playback

I am seeing stuttering playback on hd recordings of tv shows. I have raised the java heap size to 512 but I still get pauses and stutters during playback. The drive where the shows are recorded on is formatted using 64k clusters. I have also defragged the drive as well. I noticed that the size of the mpeg2 files are anywhere from 5 to 6 gig for a hour show. Do you think the size of the files makes any difference to the decoder?

Also, dvds that I have ripped play just fine through the HD-100 and I don't see the stuttering when I watch live tv. The issue I am seeing only occurs with mpeg2 playback.

Is there anything that I can tweak on my server to get the pauses to stop?

Here is my hardware setup:

3.0 Ghz Pentium 4 with 1.5 gig of ram.
Haupauge 1600 tuner.
HD-100 Extender.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

My W.A.F is at a all time low.

I need Help!

how does it look when you play the recording on the server with windows media player? I has seen recording that recorded stuttery due to having too many shows record to one drive at the same time.

Thanks

That is not it. I can pause and rewind the video and it will eventually play the part that was messing up so I know that it is not the mpeg video itself.

Got It

It looks like I have found the issue. The drive where my recordings are stored is going bad.

I have exactly the same problems as MartyJ but my hard drive is not going bad. Very frustrating to spend all this time and money and have the playback be crappy.

I also have to 'hard reset' my media extenders every few days (unplug them and plug them back in). Very inconvenient.

On a hard reset, the Media Extender should automatically check for a firmware update.
