fw20090209 broke HD PVR playback?

Hi There,

Did anyone else find that 20090209 completely borked the playback of HDPVR files?

After the update all video stuttered and their was no sound. I ended up having to drop back to the release version because I could get it working right.

Doh

Adam

The same exact thing happened to me. I also reverted back to the release firmware version.

Broken here too

Yes, no audio, 1 frame every few seconds or so on this beta. Reverting back to the stable release firmware fixed it for me.

Ditto for me... The first beta did not work that well for me either, I had to go back to the Dec production release...

Thanks,
Jeff

This has been fixed & there should be a firmware update with the fix soon, possibly today. If you are subscribed to the HD200 notification topic, you'll get an email when it is ready.

Just so those of you who have Blu-rays on your Hard Drive are aware: The 20090209 beta made Blu-ray m2ts playback on the HD-200 unbearable (lots of start and stop for me at least), so don't update firmware to this beta if you watch your BDs in standalone mode.

man do I feel stupid!!! I thought I had overheated my HDPVR, and returned it to the store..that too didn't work, so I returned it for yet another. I was about to call DirecTV.

I hadn't seen this thread before updating to 20090209, which made a mess of all playback, not only that from my the HDPVR. So I also reverted back to the last production release and am awaiting the fix that Andy mentioned.

This is why I normally try hard not to make any type of statement about when to expect something to be released. All I can say is: subscribe to the notification topic & you'll get an email when it is ready.

Don't enter the beta code & download the latest release firmware instead.

I understand that it may take some time to figure out the issues the latest beta caused but wouldn't it be better to take down the offending beta until the issues are resolved with a new beta. I would be happy if they just put up the previous beta (20090128 0) as that one fixed alot of the flac playback problems I was having. Either way I appreciate the effort to further improve a great product.

+1.....
Or at least give us a link where we can download the 20090128 as a bin file.

It figures. Just a few minutes after I post to gripe about the beta firmware the new beta becomes available for download! I still like Helen's idea about making other beta firmware releases available as .bin downloads.

I've started including direct links to the firmware files in the firmware notification. The downloaded files can be used via one of the methods described in the firmware update FAQ, but unless you need to do that, the easiest way to update is via the HD200's menus.

Thank you for this great option, Andy. I can't wait to try the latest beta but I'll have to wait till after this evening's shows are over.

As promised, the HDPVR seems to work fine once again. Thanks, Andy (and others).
