6.1.3 broke my remote

I installed and ran 6.1.3 on both my server and client. However, on my client every push of a up, down, left, or right button it moves twice.

I can run my 6.0 client.exe and it works, 6.1.3 client does not work.

I submitted a bug, and uninstalled 6.1.3 as it is unusable when the remote does not work.

I use a Harmony 880 with a USB-UIRT.

To uninstall all I did was rename the 6.1.3 directory and rename my original back to SageTV and run. So I'm fairly confident that it is SageTV that is broken.

Look in your properties file and find:

infrared_receive_repeat_delay=
infrared_receive_repeat_delay_new=
infrared_receive_repeat_period=
infrared_receive_repeat_period_new=

Increase the new ones to the same value as the old ones. At least that fixed the problem for me.

Blade,
Thanks that fixed it for me also. My "old" delay was 250 the "new" one was 30.

I'm running fine now.

BTW: I'm not sure which install method was used here, but if you install over the top of the previous version, it should keep your current settings. If you do a completely new installation to a blank directory, everything will get reset to the defaults.

Well I it should it didn't. I installed over the top of my 6.0 install and it broke things. I then tried installing in a clean directory and it was broken also.

I also installed over an existing install and it used the new values instead of the old ones.

If an upgrade resets existing properties when installing on top of an old version, I would file a bug report. There may be a few properties that need to get changed for some installs, but I don't think these are any of them.

Andy,

This was done by design. The property value names were changed so they would become the new default. This helps significantly with remote response on the MVP (combined with some other changes).

Well it may work for an MVP but it broke me and I'm sure others as well. I did get it working again by using my old numbers.

Oops.... never mind. I obviously missed the 'new' names on the properties, even though the above posts mentioned new & old.

I had the same problem. I think this is going to annoy a huge number of users when they upgrade. may I recommend some UI element in the new installer that lets uses choose the old or new settings?

seems like the "design" may need to be reworked then...

OK, we'll change this so it only applies to media extenders so it doesn't effect everyone else.
