Cool Playing MPEG-2 PS on PS3

Has anyone found a way to play the uncompressed mpeg-2 file SageTV saves through the PS3? I have tried this and find there is no audio -- the file can play fine of course through SageTV or Windows Media Player.

Sony claims the latest PS3 firmware supports MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)... but I find the only way to get the file to play on the PS3 with audio is to transcode using Autocompress (to DVD Standard, or MPEG4, etc.), then the audio is fine.
