Lost Channels

Hi,

I have been using Sage for a while now on my WHS, the last couple of weeks though i seem to have lost bbc3 and film 4 from my channels, i have re scanned and also updated to the new release but still am unable to find these 2 channels when i do a scan.

Is anybody else having this issue?, i still get these channels on my 2 tv's. Is there a way of manually tuning these channels in?

Thanks
Michael

Are you scanning when both channels are running?

I had to do the scan twice to get two frq files and then manually merge them.

Hi,

Yes i am scanning when both channels are running, i have tried various times of the day and night but no luck.

Today i came across a program called ScanChannelsBDA_UK and found that using this i get 100% on all the digital channels that i recieve on my tv!!

So the question is why can't sage pick up these same channels??, is their a way of manually typing in the frequencies for the channels i need?

Does anyone have a frequency file for South West Mendip by chance?

Thanks
Michael

In the Sage folder you should find .frq files for your tuner(s) which contains details of the channels Sage found, you should be able to edit this and add in what you need if you can get the details needed from another source.

Probably best to stop Sage first and start it again after editing.

Hi,

yeah I've had terrible trouble and I'm not really happy now

I built a freq file by hand from a ScanChannels

this might help:

https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...79&postcount=8

If anyone knows a way of just scanning for available channels it won't half help my RSI when I come to having to rescan (about every 4 months in the UK with new channel launches)

Aslo, many channels do not appear in the SageTV EPG

This whole area of SageTV falls short of the mark imo

How do you mean, many channels do not appear in the SageTV EPG? Do you mean guide data?

I prefer using an external source for my TV guide data. Currently I use digiguide xmltv with StephaneM's importer. This gets all my data for Freeveiw & Freesat and just works without me interacting with it. Digiguide does require a small fee but you could always use RadioTimes or M$ data for free if you wanted.

Yes, its a pain to setup and I believe its aimed more at the US market than Europe, but having said that Sage support has always been very good and the forums are even better. Once you have it all setup its so much better than any STB setup and far exceeds the stability issues of other HTPC software.

The frequencies on my version i got from using ScanChannelsBDA_UK and for some reason will not work, when i fire sage up it comes up as no signal.., any ideas what i'm doing wrong. Also as you can see the scan sage does itself seems to have the channels in a random order and this causes issues with the tv guide, as well as not being any where near the amount of channels i know are available.

One last question is the area i select for scanning is mendip as this yeilds the most channels, although not very well, but my closest transmitter is stockland hill which for some reason yeilds only 5 channels at most any ideas why this would be?

Sorry for the long post but i seem to have gone backwards with sage in the past few weeks after almost 12 months of trouble free usage, very annoying.

Thanks
Michael

Although it doesn't answer the question it would be worthwhile raising an official ticket with Sage support to see if they can help you, it does seem strange it only finds some of the channels but this could be due to some hard coded frequencies in Sage for the transmitter you select as opposed to scanning the full spectrum for channels which is maybe what other s/w does.

Might be a digital swithcover, they changed a bunch of frequencies on the Rowridge transmitter a few weeks ago and will do the same around the country over time, I had to add the new base frequencies into the PredefinedDVBT.frq file for my area i.e a new frequency was frq:578000000;band:8; which has a bunch of channels on BBC1 and 2 etc. I used another program to find where these channels had gone too and added in the base frequency to the sage file and hey presto the scan finds all the channels again

Old Channel frequencies

"United Kingdom-South of England@Rowridge"
frq:490000000;band:8;
frq:530000000;band:8;
frq:546000000;band:8;
frq:562000000;band:8;
frq:514000000;band:8;
frq:570000000;band:8;
{tune:1;pat:6;sdt:16;}

New Frequencies

"United Kingdom-South of England@Rowridge"
frq:578000000;band:8;
frq:602000000;band:8;
frq:570000000;band:8;
frq:562000000;band:8;
frq:530000000;band:8;
frq:514000000;band:8;
