@rsagetv99 - Can you use the /saveLog flag and post a full log file to look at? I'm confused as to what's going on. Also, is this still related to your "No Audio/Video problem" or is this something new?

Here's one. In this one it looks like Handbrake dies right after starting. In others sometimes it would process like 2% then would I get the "Encoding Quit by user command" before it died.

And yes, it's the same problem I had before.

Could you try processing a recording on a different PC?

Also, do you have upto date spyware/antivirus/etc? This is starting to look like another process interfering.

I tried it locally and on a different PC. On the local Sage server I don't even have Anti-Virus installed. On the other PC I have AVG (Free) installed, but not seeing anything in the logs.

Also, both PCs are able to run comskip via SJQ without any problems.

Additionally, it's still finishing, but I think with the /forceMencoder switch works, so I guess it may be a problem with Handbrake?

Have you tried running mediaShrink with no options just to test?

Yes, I have tried it with no switches, with minimal switches, with switches that others have suggested and I still have the issue.

I sort of mis-spoke when I said it must be handbrake. Actually it has to be a combination of Handbrake and the command shell provided by SJQ. My reasons for thinking this is:

If I drag and drop a recording, it works.
If I run from a command-line, it works.
If I run from a batch-file called from SJQ, it works. Although, the batch file had to have the start /I switch to work.

EP,

I just tried your tool and it is failing for me because it is picking up the wrong cygwin1.dll. How do I point it to the right one without uninstalling the programs that use other versions of cygwin1.dll?

Thanks,

Tom

I've never had a problem overwriting older cygwin1.dll's with newer ones since they should always be 100% backwards compatible. So in you're case i'd compare the two and if the other one is newer, delete mine, and If mine is newer then overwrite the old one with mine. Just make sure you back them both up incase you need to move back.

Is there any way to set the Start and Stop time for encoding a video file?

start and stop time inside the video.. aka from t=00:05:00.00 to t= 00:10:00.000.. or start and stop time inside a 24 hour day?...

for the former i dont think there is any provision for that inside mediashrink... for the latter i use dirmon2 to process my video queue (i have some .bat files to help with this and can share them if youre interested).. and can set blackout times where processes do not start... that gets you most of the way there because the average encoding for an hour of video is about the same (for me 4 hours for a 1 hour hd OTA video).

razrsharpe is correct about dirmon2 being great for setting blackout times so that your server only encodes video from X am to Y pm (That's how I do it).

As for the first part, just compressing a certain part of the video, you can use videoRedo to select the part of the video you want and generate a .vprj file. Then if you modify your defaults.properties file to have the "/cutComm /onlyvprj" switches that'll tell mediaShrink if, and only if, the video has a .vprj file to make the cuts specified using videoRedo and then process the resulting video. Otherwise it'll just process the video normally.

I use mediaShrink like this for cutting commercials. If I manually generate a .vprj file then use it, otherwise process as normal.

Yep, that's what I meant. I'll check out VideoRedo. Thanks for the tip!

i totally forgot about videoredo... i dont cut commercials because my detection isnt 100% (its close but not 100% and ive been too lazy to manually fix them... ive been thinking about an stvi to facilitate fixing wrong .edls but havent gotten around to it yet) so i guess i just overlooked it. Question RE videoredo... you cut commercials before any compression correct? Ive thought about starting to use it... mmm maybe i should set that up... tooo many projects

How Would I Append Files?

Is there a way to process ripped DVDs so that they are appended. I would like to take 2-disc dvds (mostly concert vids) and process them as one mkv file.

Eagles Farewell DVD Not Processing

Tried D&Ding and from command line, but it keeps hanging at this step (I've also included the log file). I'm able to process several other AnyDVD rips, just this particular one is giving me problems.

+ Getting dvd test clip: "C:\Program Files\MediaShrink\mediaEngineBins\MPlayer-rtm-svn-28311\mencoder.exe" dvd://1 -dvd-device "c:\temp\anydvdrips\eagles~1\THE_EAGLES_DISC_1\VIDEO_TS" -ss 150 -frames 300 -oac copy -ovc copy -o "c:\temp\anydvdrips\eagles~1\THE_EAGLES_DISC_1\VIDEO_TS.workFolder\VIDEO_TS.testDVD.1.mpg" -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf > "c:\temp\anydvdrips\eagles~1\THE_EAGLES_DISC_1\VIDEO_TS.workFolder\VIDEO_TS.testDVD.1.log" 2>&1

EP - Any clues?

The best way to do that would be to...

1) Rip them into individual mpegs

Code:
"mencoder.exe" dvd://1 -dvd-device "Disc1\VIDEO_TS" -oac copy -ovc copy -o "disc1.mpg" -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf

"mencoder.exe" dvd://1 -dvd-device "Disc2\VIDEO_TS" -oac copy -ovc copy -o "disc2.mpg" -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf
2) Join them using VideoRedo

And run that though combined mpeg through mediashrink
