Navigating SageMC with a mouse

I am running SageMC on a laptop with a mouse. I just can't figure out how you go backwards and forwards through menus with the mouse. It seems that I can only go up and down and no matter what key I press I can't get back to the previous menu.

If I press the home key on the keyboard I do get back to the main menu.

Am I not supposed to be using this with a mouse and keyboard? (ie with a remote on a HD100/200?)

I couldn't find anything in the Wiki about naviation or in the threads on here.

There is an invisible back button in the upper left corner of the screens. On the Main Menu this changes to a fullscreen toggle. You could also try the toolbar import. It was designed to fill in the blanks for mouse navigation.

Aloha,
Mike

if your mouse has a back an a forward button ... or if you install the touchscreen st

SageMC seems to be designed more for ir/rf-remote navigation so that more screen real estate can be devoted to other things ...

The touch screen stvi helps if it still works in the latest SageMC
(I think the touch screen import was updated recently).

I've found if you have a mouse with a back and forward button those work ...

or if there is a keyboard close by you can use keyboard navigation
left arrow goes back, right arrow goes forward and enter selects
(the manual should list all the keyboard navigation shortcuts)

to setup extra keys go to:
"Setup" / "Detailed Setup" / "Commands" / "Link Infrared" / "Keystroke to SageTV Command"

Hope this helps,
Bobby

Thanks, that helped. I have found that the left right keyboard keys do allow me to navigage. I don't know why I could not get them to do so before. Interesting that they have invisible key in the upper left side of the screen, but then I guess that's a good thing as it does not clutter the screen when you are watching the picture on an HDTV and not a computer monitor.

I will be migrating to HD200's and remotes only once they arrive.

IMHO this is one of the bigger shortcomings of SageMC - the default UI is much easier to navigate with a keyboard/mouse. But there are some instances where users will not have a remote - using via Placeshifter being a prime example.

I'm always surprised to see long-time SageMC users not realize this exists.

As MeinMaui said: SageMC Toolbar is your answer. And he should know - he created it

There's even a touch-screen interface based off of it that makes SageMC touchscreen-capable

Thanks guys - I didn't know this existed. But then again the last post in the thread for the SageMC toolbar was from last August - about the time I starting using Sage.
