Is there a way to speed up the Hauppaugge 45btn remote response time with sage?

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum (I was back and forth between this and hardware support).

I just upgraded from SageTV v5 -> SageTV 6.5.9 and I've noticed that the response time using the remote is a lot slower. Not necessarily from me pressing a button to seeing a response on the screen, but more of I want to move 5 items down in a list, pressing the down arrow 5 times, the cursor/focus just moves slow... Its forced me to get a mouse and plug it in because its just so much faster.

Is there a setting in the sage.properties where I can decrease the amount of focus time a menu item needs before it moves to the next or something like that?

I searched for 'remote faster' and 'remote response' time and didnt find anything that would help.

I'd love to know if you have a solution for this...I also would like to speed up response of the remote.

It isn't really a remote response time; you are probably seeing the effect of UI animations. They make the UI nicer, but of course it takes some time for the animations to complete. You can either disable animations in Detailed Setup -> General or just press the remote's arrows however many times you want to move the highlight w/o waiting for it to finish moving before pressing the remote button again -- the animated focus transition doesn't need to finish before you make another entry.

Updating from Java 1.4 to 1.6 vintage did a lot to increase responsiveness. Also increasing the Java heap to 512K did a nice job too.

What is java 1.6 vintage? A specific version? I think I want to try this route as for Sage also crashes a lot to Desktop on me.

Andy - I think the issue Im having is more the HD-PVR IR sensor, Ive read on other forums of people having a similiar issue. Slow response, having to press a button several times to finally have it 'take' etc.... Maybe Hauppaugge will do something about it. In the meantime Ill turn off all animations (I cant believe it would be this though, its just Java right? a fast enough machine should crank through java animations right?)

I just thought you meant the UI felt a little slower & remembered that some people preferred no animations for a slight speed boost. A newer version of Java could help, but if you have to press a remote button several times to get a single response, that is another issue entirely.

Well, for me it's not the UI that I'm talking about. If I compare the response time that I get from my keyboard to the response time I get from the remote, the remote takes faaaar more time to implement an action.
