Feature Request

I looked for a forum to post feature requests, but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I would love to have a feature where I could numerically enter the time in minutes where I want to jump. That would be helpful if I wanted to jump in halfway during a 2 hour show.

Another nice feature would be if you could hit a number 1-9 (for minutes) and then hit the jump forward or backward button, and it would jump that many minutes.

I know you are asking about the default STV, but I thought I'd mention that I added this feature to SageMC in a recent update.

Aloha,
Mike

Yes, you are correct. BTW, which feature did you add, the first (type in time to jump to), or the second (jump on forward or back), or both?

It seems that someone could also write a stvi that has this feature.

I tried SageMC, once, but we have gotten so used to the default STV... anyway, I may set up a test machine to try it again.

I added the time jump. I actually implemented two different user selectable modes. In one mode, you enter the time in minutes and hit ff or rew. It will then jump to that time in the video.

In the other mode, while the time bar is visible you can hit 0-9 and it will jump to that multiple of 10% increments. So hitting 3 takes you to the 30% point of the video. I find this the most convenient mode since I usually don't know/care about the specific time. I just want to jump to an approximate point in the video and adjust using ff/rew from there.

Aloha,
Mike

I just downloaded it from your link. It wasn't listed in the sticky for v6 compatible plug-ins. I looked again, and I found it all the way down in the version 4 to version 5 plugins. I assume that it is still compatible?

Hi Mike

Are you suggesting the feature you described (% jump) was added directly into SMC and not via an STVi? I am using 6.5 and this does not work.

I also noticed the STVi posted - I had that and removed it just in case there was a conflict, to no avail.

Then again "added to SageMC" - maybe a soon to be released future version?

Thanks
belly

@bellyman

I added this feature to SageMC v6.3.8 a few months ago. It was my own feature request. I use it all the time. Make sure you have selected the method you expect. If you are using the Jump % method, it only works while the time bar is visible.

Aloha,
Mike

Again I am running 6.5.

Under the detailed setup menu - where does one set the "method"?

Again - the request was added to 6.3.8 - Not a plugin - and assumed to be kept in 6.5.

Only thing I see about moving is under "Customize - FF & RW Times". The other thought is I may have to remove all plugins and revert to the standard .xml. Would this have anything to do with enhanced features?

thanks

Sorry, I think we have naming confusion again (it happens all the time). I'm talking about the SageMC alternate user interface, which is a third party interface for use with SageTV. It should not be confused with the default interface included in the core SageTV product.

Aloha,
Mike

Ahhh. Got it now. Probably should be a term like "SageAMC" or something.

But now you have tweaked my interested in the alternatives. I started out with the standard MediaMVP - then moved to the open source version which allowed it to be a "MythTV" F/E. Then I discovered SageTV worked with the MediaMVP.

Thanks Mike
belly

Ed: I assume the alternate you are referring to is here?
