Can Orb and SAGETV be on the Same Computer?

I have been using SageTV for a while with no troubles. Now I installed Orb TV on the same computer as SageTV and it seem to install correctly with no firewall problems. But I could not get Orb TV to work. I click on the TV program I want and nothing happens. I try playing a video file and it does not play either.

Is it because SageTV is taking over the TV tuner? Do I have to uninstall SageTV to get Orb to work?

is your tuner one of the ones they list?

if so, most likely Sage and Orb are trying to access the same tuner at the same time, and yes, only one can use the tuner at a time.

You may want to find an Orb support forum for the question about Orb video playback...

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I have the WinTV PVR-USB2 listed there. Also, I have Windows Media Center and the TV function does not work when SageTV is installed.

Any TV application will take over the TV tuner. It needs exclusive access to the hardware. The only exception I know of is the HDHR which can allow different apps to access the HDHR tuners at different times from different PCs and apps.

I've run both SageTV and Orb on a XP SP2 machine simultaniously just fine, using a single PVR-USB2 card just fine.

If i were wathing ORb, and sage had a recording, it would change channel.
Do you use xmltv with Orb ?
