WinTV-HVR-2250 with HD DirecTV

I know this is a bit tangential to SageTV, but does anyone know if the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 can be used to record high definition video from DirectTV?

I'm basically looking for something cheaper than the Hauppauge HD-PVR.

Nevermind, this card doesn't work. I found another thread explaining that S-Video can't do HD.

Correct, but the 480i S-Video recording does look really good, from a DirecTV HD channel.

Your best bet is the Hauppauge HDPVR. It handles the h.264 signal directly from the sat receiver via component cables. And with an HD200 client, the picture is unbeatable on a good plasma or LCD.

Keep an eye on dell.com, they had a deal a couple weeks back for $159 HDpvr. The price is coming down quick.
