STV Import: Sage Movie Wall (SMW)

I've got a problem with filtering. I've searched the forums and really haven't found a working solution.

I am trying to make my home screen "Movies" menu item open SMW only showing content from one path. Here is the section from my menu.xml file:

Within the Movies folder are the subfolders for each movie, each containing the DVD file structure or video file.

The problem is this results in a black (totally empty) screen when I access it. I tried reloading the menu file, and tried opening the menu several times.

I am using the latest version of SMW on the latest version of Sage on an extender (the HD200).

Ideas?

Its weird that you don't see double quotes until proofing your own post about something not working

The problem was in the eye-to-brain interface... Gotta get that fixed

i am runing sagetv software on HTPC system

sagetv v 6.6.2.218
sagemc 6.3.9a
SageMovieWallV4R1.01

also runing extrenal player arcsoft to play my movie i have blueray movies that where ripped using My Movies. I create a Movie folder in my lib, not iso files.

the problem i am having is playing the movie. when i add fanart using metadata and change the view to show me the movie with fanart when i press enter the info of the movie comes up and cycle, but if i press CTRL + D to play the movie the moviewall screen closes and it goes back to the main sagemc screen. But if i pick a movie that has no metadata attached i press enter and the vedio info comes up with the option to play and it works

ps. i hope i was clear on the problem

@luis - what does the default sagemc video library do? I'm not sure if/how smw could cause this problem... it sounds like corrupted metadata somehow...

sagemc is the platform where smw runs on. i think the problem is related to the extranal player. the command that sends out to play the movie i think.

if i change back to sagemc it works fine

I have narrow it down to the view on the moviewall

Views that work

3D wall
Small List

All other view will not open the video info screen that you have option to (Play/add to queue/edit video info/sent to...)

Check your universal smw settings for what select is doing and change it's setting to what you want.

Options when on the wall. Go to wall options and hit left or right until it says universal options

I knew this question would come up just didn't think it would so fast....

Smw relies heavily on the old animation system no longer used in v7. So it will
Not work with the new v7 ui. It will still work with sagemc and v7 as sagemc will still rely on the old animation system.

Now with mymovies and ortus and other projects I just don't see allot of time to convert smw to the new animation system. It would be nice but two he honest smw is messy compared to how I code now so a rewrite would be the only way I would do it and I don't see that happening.

Great things are happening with smm and in the future it will support bmt and ortus metadata in place of mymovies but that is long in the future. My movies is free if you only want covers and metadata so I highly recomend giving it a try.

If there is allot of yelling and screaming I may change my mind but as of now smw will die with v6

When you say "give MyMovies a try", are you talking about the Sage version? Did you release that yet?

yes he's talking about the sage version , no he hasn't released it yet, and no he doesn't have an ETA (but much sooner then TVE 2.0 )

I love sage moviewall and haven't looked back to xlobby, but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me create a button (or use a remote keypress) to automatically list all items in the animation and family categories.

I know it would require some studio work which I would really enjoy doing. I've tried and failed to accomplish this in studio already, so any help would be great. Thanks!

ok, stupid question...
I loved SMW, when I was running SageMC...

but now I am running the Default V7 UI... I kind of like it better than the sageMC UI... actually I really want the phoenix thing... but that doesn't appear to be real yet...

anyway, I can't seem to find SMW for the stock v7 UI, where is it located??? why doesn't it show up in the available plugins list???? SMW must exist for v7 because not existing just isn't a valid option...

1) Not a fan either, but AFAIK SMW is not getting ported to V7
2) The name is an artifact of the original implementation, Plucky is adding support for other collection managers
