Very Slow to Start Live QAM TV Playback (only in SageMC)
OK, I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. I have Sage v6.5.16, SageMC 6.3.9a pre-release 41, and the 20090528 Hd200 firmware. Fan-art is disabled in SageMC. My server has a PVR-250, an HVR-1600 (using analog and QAM tuning), and records off of a DCT6200 via firewire.
Lately I've been noticing a long delay on my HD200 (and HD100) when I first try to playback live TV coming from the QAM tuner. When I first try to play back one of those QAM channels, it takes about 15 seconds for the video to start playing. I'll see the timebar turning green right away, indicating Sage is recording the channel, but it takes another 10 seconds or so before video will start playing back. This is where is starts getting crazy. When I use the stock UI, it only takes a couple seconds for live QAM TV to start playing. Even crazier, this problem doesn't seem to exist with my firewire tuner. I can start playing back video after only 3-5 seconds, which is what it has always been. A little less surprising, the problem isn't there for analog TV either. I was getting ready to send Sage a bug report when I realized I didn't have the problem in the stock UI. So, I'm posting here. Can anyone else either confirm or deny this bug? It's not unique to the latest firmware, SageMC pre-release or the SageTV beta. I was running Sage v6.5.9 with SageMC 6.3.8 and an older HD200 beta before and I still had this problem. That's what prompted me to try the new betas. Edit: By the way, this also only happens when I first try to play back live TV. It doesn't happen if I stop playback of a channel and start playing it again. I'm attaching an excerpt from my Sage log when I try to play a video back. You can see from that log that it is taking more than 10 seconds for the HD200 to start playing back the video.

After more testing, it is apparent to me this isn't SageMC related after all. What really happens is that there are some channels where this problem occurs more often than others. So, when I was testing last night it just so happened that I kept picking the channels that worked under the stock UI, and the channels that don't work under SageMC.
Mods- If you come across this thread can you delete it? I'm basically going to repost in either the beta or hardware forum (I haven't decided yet). |
