Playon slowww

Anyone have playon or its competitors running successfully on the HD200 in standalone? I'm running it, but its painfully slow. Takes forever to navigate through folders.....it flies on my PS3, however.

Are there any media servers that actually run fast or decent on the HD200? I'm considering purchasing playon, it runs great on a ps3, but I'd like something that I can use on both.

Just checking in...

Does playon still suck or have they fixed the speed issue? Being half price this month its tempting but last time I tried it a few months ago it was crazy slow.

It is still painfully slow and of course, unsupported in every way, shape, and form. I can't even get it to work with the latest beta firmware for the HD200 and latest Playon.

Works on my HD200, but I'm a few versions behind that bleeding edge and haven't tried the last PlayOn release. Still very slow to start playing the actual files though.

Works on mine too...626 beta firmware on the HD200 and latest PlayOn release (2.59.3460). Yes, still painfully slow to navigate; but unlike my previous attempts, this time it actually works with Hulu and Netflix! So I jumped on the $19.99 PlayON discount until the end of June.

I am using the hd200 and playon now, its not screaming fast, but its usable now that I excluded all the playon directories from my mcafee virus scanning. While that was allowed to scan those directories realtime it was a painful experience to watch anything on HULU. Now I just wish I could figure out how to skip back or forward during a HULU show playback. When I hit skip the show goes back to the beginning... now that is very painful indeed.

Ya the WAF just went down to 0 tonight as we sat there waiting for 5 minutes for a menu to load. C'mon Sage get with the program already!

This may be unrelated but Hulu changed something that broke PlayOn. I guess there is an update to fix it now, but I doubt it addresses the speed issue.

Is it just Hulu that is slow for people? I was using Netflix through playon and it worked awesome!

I'm not sure that people realize that the HD200 in standalone was never designed to work with Playon. It was found that that you could access a Playon server with it. So Playon presents itself as a UPnP server and the HD200 has the core functionality to navigate the folders, read the metadata and play the files. Not much more than play and stop is available. Playon does have an API which could be taken advantage of but this has not been done with the HD200 to my knowledge. Other implementations on other systems/platforms have taken advantage of those APIs and of course there is a big difference in performance and use. It would be nice if SageTV took a look at using the APIs for the HD200 but as slow as navigating is it is still usable. And I believe the power of the server where Playon service runs also affects the performance. I don't think you can use Hulu as a performance mark anymore because they are making sure only authorized clients (browsers and their desktop app) has access to the videos per the distributors requests.
