BBC HD on HD200 extender

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has the following problem when viewing BBC-HD over a HD200 media extender. I'm using the latest beta (6.5.17) of sagetv server and the latest beta firmware for the HD200:

1) Tune into BBC HD channel broadcasting AC3 5.1 + stereo NAR track - no problems at all.

2) Tune into BBC HD channel broadcasting AC3 stereo + stereo NAR
- no picture or sound in HD200, picture and sound OK in 6.5.17 client.

3) Tune into BBC HD broadcasting AC3 5.1 + stereo NAR track, and then continue viewing into a programme with AC3 stereo (not DD 5.1) + stereo NAR, and the sound and picture remains fine. Retune and I get no sound or picture, as in (2).

I also notice that when I don't get sound & picture (scenario 2), the second audio track is misreported by sage as being MP4@22kHz when in fact it should be Dolby Digital/AC3 stereo (and my amplifier reports the audio as DD) I have read stuff about the BBC mis-identifying audio streams, so it's hard to guess at the root of the problem...

I just updated to the latest beta firmware on the HD200 but had stuttering/freezing of the picture every 10 seconds or so. I tried rebooting both the Windows SageTV server & the HD200 without improvement. AFAIK the network is OK at least is was before I did the update. As my wife is watching Wimbledon I couldn't spend too long on troubleshooting so reverted to the non-beta software & now all is well.

Has anyone else seen this problem with the latest firmware (20090626 0) announced yesterday?

BTW Is there any way to revert to an earlier beta firmware? The update screen just offers whatever is the latest & in this case I would like to reload the previous version (20090616 0) announced ten days ago.

if you set the following in sage.properties to false, then it will produce .ts files that the HD-200 will ingest, no matter the cobination of audio tracks type, however all your MVPs in your rig will not be able to play any live TV at all...

I have tried both .ts and .mpg but still get problems with ac3 2.0 audio on all ac3 channels not just BBC HD. It's a strange one because sometimes a channel will work and sometimes it won't, there doesn't seem to be any pattern. Ac3 5.1 is almost perfect for me now, still the occasional problem but not very often.

I upgraded to v. 6.6.2 last night, together with the latest firmware for the HD200, and managed to view BBC-HD broadcasting in stereo AC3! Not tried an AC3 DD 5.1 broadcast yet, but this seems promising so far.

Yeah I noticed this too over the weekend, BBC HD ac3 2.0 is working in 6.6.2 on my HD100. I still have problems with SCI-FI HD sometimes though.

I've been reading various threads in other forums (digitalspy, avforums) that the BBC changed the encoder it uses for HD broadcasts very recently (the 5th I think), and in one I saw a reference to "an audio issue" being fixed.

Perhaps this is the long-awaited fix the BBC acknowledged they needed to make to their audio stream to make it conform to the relevant standards? Perhaps their HD broadcasts will ALL work properly with Sage now?
