Lightbulb Customization request: Dynamic menus without dynamic menus ;-)

Hi,

I am a long time user of nielm's Dynamic menus STVI.
As I live in Germany I translated the menu.xml into German language. However I found out that I am quite lazy and never change this xml once a new SageTV version comes out. And I even do not really need the dynamic menus functionality itself anymore.
But I got used to those little two bars at the bottom:
a. upcoming recordings
b. Free disc space.

Is there a way for some of the cool developers here to take the stvi and throw away the menu customization code and only keep the current look and feel with the two bars at the bottom?

I would do that for myself if someone explains me what to do... I don't really speak SageTV-Studio

Thanks for any help!
Oliver

Hmmm... whatever is easier to implement.
I think now the bars are only on the main menu but I do not have a chance to check that at the moment.

The bars can be placed on all dynamic menus. I would be interested in doing this with the upcoming recordings. I would also like to get weather on the main screen without the use of dynamic menus; if you're taking requests

Thanks, but yes. I miss using this, but because of this:

Quote:
(Note: you'll need dynamicmenu imported first & default_v6+).
I assume it won't work without nielm's plugin imported first.

PS - Dynamic Menus produces display glitches for me on extenders.

ohh - that brings back some memories; although, it does need dynamicmenu prior to import.

Now I'm currious... BC - why don't you use the dynamicmenu import? I've always assumed everyone with a default setup was at least using nielms import - I couldn't live without it (although I understand the translation issue would become a pain for Oliver).

When I have DMM installed it produces artifacts on the screen (remnants of screens past) when switching through. Annoying enough to me to not want to use it. I see this in the stock STV now when parental control dialog windows appear too.

I was seeing artifacts like this during screen transitions in the UI. It happens when I have Animation active. When I disable animation the artifacts disappear and the UI gives almost instant response. I haven't seen a down side to disabling animations. You should give that a try.

I use Dynamic Menus with SagePro and love them.

I have just been living with the artifacts - but I think I prefer animations (never tried it without them). Has no one figured out a way to eliminate the artifacts otherwise?

Couldn't live without the DM though - I want what I want on the main menu.

I have learned to live with the artifacts as well... but if someone figures out how to "clean it up" that would be awesome to the look and feel of SageTV.

You could get halfway there by using the stock STV's unsupported extras and enabling the disk space bar... I know its not in the lower corner but it does display on every menu.

I could have sworn one of the other customizations also dealt with upcoming recordings but maybe I'm just crazy...

I've got an stvi which modifies ONLY the look of the diskspace & upcomingrec bars but it builds directly on nielms DMM import.

So seeing that I already have some time invested I'll take a look at what I can do later this week. I must admit, I also have ulterior motives My wife is German and is starting to talk more about us moving back to Germany (something about “brot und wurst”)....... my first thought is.... what will happen to all my electronics?? AND SAGE!!! So I might call on you (Oliver) to explain what this may mean to me..... but later (and if I'm successful!!)

Yes, I know. I have it enabled but what is more important for me is to show the upcoming recordings.
