Command line actions from playlists?

Can anyone think of a creative way to kick off command line actions from a Sage video playlist?

Since I can kick off X-10 macro commands from a command line (control lights, move curtains, etc) I would like to do something like the following sequence:

<start playlist>
1) Command line: X10-Dim some lights
2) Play welcome to my theater video
3) Play preview videos
4) Command line: X10-Dim lights fully
5) Command line: X10-Retract screen mask to predetermined aspect
6) Play warning video
7) Play actual movie M2TS
8 ) Command line: X10-return screen mask
9) Command line: Bring up lights slowly
<End playlist>

Please share your thoughts, perhaps you can think of a hacky workaround!
