A downloadable STV update is available -- go to Detailed Setup -> Advanced -> Check for STV Update.

The v6.6.1/v6.6.2 STV file set will be updated to version 2011072801, updating the default STV with these changes:

6.6.2.26 -- 2011072801

1. Fixed YouTube videos by skipping the WebM version links.

Note: This is an update from file set 2010080201. Any earlier STV file set would need to update to that file set, then update to this one.



Note: If you are using Vista, the STV update option may not be available. If you are unable to use the downloadable STV update within the SageTV v6.6.2 UI, you can manually install the update:

1. Download the update file:

2. Make backup copies of this file: SageTV3.xml, found in <SageTV install path>\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3

I don't believe there are any plans to update the v6 STV. the JAR from the v7 weather library plugin should be usable, though, if anyone wants to create a customization for it.

There isn't going to be an update for 6.x because it's too involved, it's not possible, or because you aren't going to update 6.x any more at all?

I'm asking because now I'm worried the next time youtube breaks, there wont be an STV update for 6.x.

I have no problem creating a customization for the V7 jar if someone could tell me how to do it or what's involved.

I'd be happy to pay someone to do it as well...

The last time Youtube videos broke, you guys posted a fix within a few hours of me asking about it.

Does that mean that if something like youtube breaks in the future, that version 6.xx wont be updated any more, or was this specifically in reference to the weather data being broken?

Considering they gave a free v7 upgrade to everyone running v5 or v6, I don't think they can be expected to update the old code... I realize they did it before a couple months ago, but that was very shortly after the v7 free upgrade. Now, everyone should have had a chance to upgrade...

That's why I'm asking what the status is. If they aren't planning on upgrading the V6 code any more, I have to sit down with the family and ask them if they would rather I:

1. Chance upgrading to v7 and possibly messing up the 27 days worth of shows we have recorded.

2. Stay with the old interface and deal with not having weather (or possibly access to online videos).

3. Keep our existing gear using it as standalone only players and getting a new technology to record anything else going forward.

4. Jump ship and sell off all my sage gear.

Before I present choices to my family (so everyone can make an informed decision), I would like to know where product updates stand for v6.

I'm not making any demands, I just want to know v6 updates stand. I have a rather significant amount of money invested in the Sage product and my family is very happy with it.

If the v7 interface is mostly identical to the v6 interface (and I won't lose associations for the hundreds of shows we have recorded), I would probably upgrade to v7. It is a shame though, I've been running v6 for several years now and I really don't want to fix "what ain't broke".

Did you update to Google and/or NWS weather and supply the info for it? This was changed in a previous STV update. Mine is working.
