So the new demux supports TrueHD. Interesting. When using the arcsoft decoder it always reverts back to 2 channels. Any way to fix this? ( I didn't see an answer to this question when it was first asked.)

The ArcSoft audio decoder doesn't remember it's channel setting. I use the modified MPC-HC audio decoder in AntiPack to play TrueHD. Ffdshow's audio decoder will work too.

I use ffdshow with very nice results. How about DTS-MA? I can only get the core with ffdshow and arcsoft works if I manually change to 7.1.

AFAIK there isn't a good solution for DTS-MA yet. I use eac3to to convert it to FLAC and put everything in MKV.

Unfortunately, this new version does not correct my "No Signal" problem on Clear QAM channels.

Strange problem

I have the following sage installation.

sagetv server running as a service on a windows 2008 server 32 bit with 3 DVB-S2 tuner cards supporting 7 virtual tuners via dvbe4sage

1 HD100 and 3 HD200 extenders
5 Sagetv PC clients

The installation is normally stable and I have no unusual problems.

I have tried the native recording patch (versions 01, 05 and 06) on a client running Windows 7 32 bit.

The following issues were identical in all patch versions:

1st problem: for x.264 decoding, the Cyberlink x.264 decoder pack would not work. The video would show normally for the first 10 seconds and then freezes. Audio is normal. The Arcsoft and MS x.264 decoders work fine except as follows.

2nd problem

While using the working x.264 decoders (MS or Arcsoft, does not matter which), I have exactly one HD channel (MGM HD) that works incorrectly: after switching to the MGM channel, there is a long pause with the turning circle (around 20 sec), after which the video shows, but I have no audio.
The format is TS, h.264 1080i video, MP2/192 kb/s@48Khz stereo audio. I cannot see any difference with other HD channels, and also there is no issue with playing a recorded file of the MGM-HD channel on various other players.

I have to mention again that the standard distribution 6.6.2 works fine.

How should I proceed ?

the MGM HD audio is MPEG audio but has an AC3 descriptor, which confuses sagetv trying to parse out. the old code doesn't check descriptors .

the Cyberlink x.264 decoder issue is also fixed.

here is a quick fix for you to test.
http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/MpegDeMux.ax

which will be included in the next update shortly.

Update 6

When I installed update 6 yesterday I checked two clear QAM channels and they worked fine. Tonight a scheduled recording on a clear QAM channel failed due to no signal. I reverted to update 5 and the "No Signal" problem went away.

Another item which I have noticed is that the smooth FF no longer works for clear QAM recordings. When playing back these recordings pressing smooth FF causes the recording to jump forward by 10 seconds which is what I have the step forward set to. Smooth FF still works correctly for analog recordings. I don't know when this problem started.

Thank you Qian. Everything is now OK.

A quick question. - should I try this patch on the server also ? Does the server processes the data at all in my case (DVB ts streams) or just serves chunks of data blindly ?

put TSSplitter.ax into your server, it handles the problem at recording; MpegDemux takes care of playing.

Sorry for delay. I was out of town and didn't want to mess up my server remotely.

I just tried update 7 and all is working now.

Don't want to speak for Qian, but you could try it and revert back pretty easily.

From what I understand, the old core couldn't handle video/audio descriptors for DVB streams. This core does. Qian was able to fix the ITV HD issue by looking at the raw dump file.

Qian said that "ITV HD carries a video stream in a private data stream without any description information, the parser has to guess its stream type."

Maybe the Sky AC3 issue is similar.

Update 7

Qian,

Update 7 did not fix my smooth FF problem. There does not appear to be any change.

On the MVP pressing Smooth FF does the same thing as pressing Skip Forward for digital recordings. It functions correctly for analog recordings.
