eBay MCE remotes do they work with SageTV???

Hi

I'm trying to collect all the hardware I need to run SageTV my tuner didn't come with the Hauppauge remote .

I've seen conflicting information about remotes on the forums some of the info is dated maybe.

I was thinking of buying a clone MCE remote but they don't support XP Pro only MCE 2005.
Can anyone recommend a remote which works with SageTV and doesn't cost a fortune.

So far my system is a HP DC7100SFF P4 3.2GHZ, WindowsXP Pro, Hauppauge HVR-2250 board only kit.

Thanks

by original MCE remote, or HP remote( i love my HP mce remote).
Or Dell MCE maybe, these are <40 $.

Do not buy XBOX360 remote to use with the PC.

These work by default in Sagetv, if you want to use the remote in any software on your PC you need to google for:

Ir Server Suite, Girder, LM Remote Key, Evenghost, Intelliremote.

Some of these are free, some are with money.

I prefer Girder( 60$) and Intelliremote(25$).

I'm not sure what your budget is, but if you buy a USB-UIRT (~$50), you can then use any IR remote you want.

Picked up a HP remote and receiver for $20 shipped.

I was thinking of buying a USB-UIRT can it receive IR commands for say channel 100 on Brand A, then retransmit same channel number but for Brand B?

Which is the best free software of the bunch? I've only heard of Girder the commercial software.

Thanks for the info and tips guys.

Congratulation on your new HP remote.
You could use Evenghost( but if you are on Win7 you need to install an addon on their forum)... but it take some time to learn this program. Girder cost a lot of money.
Intelliremote is the easiest to learn, but also cost 25 $, but has an nice addon for Iphone, it transform an Iphone into an PC remote.

EDIT: Where you buy that HP? Put here an link, some good HP are 40-50$.

I can't help you with the retransmitting piece, since I only have my PC being controlled by it. SageTV then tells my DirecTV boxes to change channels for me via a serial connection between the STBs and my WHS server. My other devices (receiver and TV) are controlled directly via IR with my Harmony remote.

I use EventGhost (free) for interpreting commands for me and launching programs outside of Sage.

I'll check out EventGhost
I've ordered a USB-UIRT+56 directly from the USB-UIRT site.
I guess I'll have to experiment with the USB-UIRT+56 for a while.
My first thought was to run the UIRT on its own computer and let it receive and then send multiple commands out to different equipment. ie:Tivo, SageTV, Sat receiver, and dish positioner.

Now I wait till next week for all my equipment to arrive
