HD200 connected to PC speakers

Hiya

My AV amp (connected via SPDIF) is playing up and whilst I think about what to replace it with, I was going to connect some old PC speakers to the HD200. I assume this cable will do it :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Female-3-5mm-S...ht_3468wt_1167

Anyone done this ? Do I need to change the outputs in the setup screens ? How does Dolby stuff then get handled ? (Presumably the server transcodes it ?)

Thanks

That should work. Just change your audio output to analog in the standalone setup. Only thing that won't work is DTS, which the extender can't decode.

I use the same adapter to use with some headphones so that I don't wake up my wife while watching TV. The only problem is that the volume is very low with the volume on the HD200 turned all the way up.

Being a line-level output, It really isn't designed for headphones (in fact, depending on how it is designed, using those low impedance headphones could actually damage the output stage of the extender). You CAN buy standalone headphone amps for very cheap.

I am using this Pocket Amplifier with one of my HD200's and headphones - makes it an awesome little system!

I watch my SageTV and listen on earbuds while I run on a treadmill.
Got mine back in January and I am real happy with it. Might be a bit pricey for some but it was the 'easiest' solution that I could find.

Out of interest. If I had TV that had HDMI (Mine's component only) would I hear DTS that way ?

If the TV can decode it, I think most can't.
