No Audio on MPG files except with Sage

I have latest version of Sage TV, Hauppage 2250, latest drivers.

Problem is the audio is missing from many of the MPG files if I try to play them OUTSIDE of Sage.

Example: last night I recorded the Charger-Broncos game. It looks like HD. It looks and sounds fine when I play in Sage.

But, when I use Media Player Classic(HomeCinema) latest version, or VLC(latest version), I get the picture fine but NO Audio.

I know the sound is there because I can hear it in Sage.

Also, if I fire up Ulead Video Studio( a huge app) I can hear the audio; Ulead is not feasible; too slow to load and too big an app.

So what gives?

My basic need is that I want to be able to play the MPG files that Sage records WITHOUT always having to use Sage.

Can someone reccomend a good, free, stand-alone MPG player that will play all the MPG files(even the HD ones) that Sage records?

And, what causes this "missing audio" issue? Am I missing some codec?

Thanks!

It could be that SageTV has recorded more than one audio track. I've found this happens on some of my recordings depending on the channel I recorded from. In VLC, there's an option to choose the audio track that you want to play (on the Mac version, it's on the Audio menu under Audio Track). By default, VLC will play the first audio track but I've found that sometimes it's empty.

Hope this helps,

Andy.

Use the convert function. I often have this situation, and convert fixes it every time (plus saves space).
