USB-UIRT setup question

I have been using SageTV for years, and really like it. I have had no problems until my local cable company, Comcast, recently changed some of their analog channels to digital and sent me new DTA's (Digital Adapter box) so we can continue watching all channels.

My plan is to get a USB-UIRT box and follow the directions in this post: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5291

Question is I have three boxes from comcast, one is a main box and the other two are for secondary tv boxes and smaller. The two smaller boxes have an IR plug in the back and actually come with their own mini ir cables.

With the USB-UIRT setup, can i go direct to these plugs instead of needing the mini ir cables from radioshack?

Probably not, you will need to hack the cables to make it work. Get an old set of headphones and patch the wires STB1 to R channel and STB2 to L channel then use the front port to control the 3rd STB.
